    Dear Olivia, do you know that, while you are doing the data verification, actually there is a module by IBM witch allow you to design your research instrument and later you can just scan the survey forms and all the data will go directly in SPSS. (Pre-setup data file is needed). The beauty of it is you can save alot of time in data entry and increase the accuracy. Hope this help.

    My experience is only with university research labs, in which case the qualifications they look for are: that you've taken a research methods class, have good grades, and are available for meetings! Of course organizational skills and any office work ESPECIALLY EXCEL is going to help! Again, my experience is only with getting a position in a university lab as a student research assistant, but hopefully this helps! :) I would look on Linked In at research assistant positions and see what skills they're looking for. good luck!

  • @olivia_simone

    @olivia_simone

    6 жыл бұрын

    DonnieDarko Requiem mmm I don't really think it'd be an advantage. It takes a weekend to complete and you usually have enough time between when you're hired and when you actually start. It's convenient once you have it, but I don't think they'd pick (Or not pick) someone over it

    I have a BS in Small Business & Entrepreneurship and just applied for a Masters in General Psychology Concentration in Life Coach. Can I get a PhD in Research Psychology or Trauma Studies?

  • @olivia_simone

    @olivia_simone

    5 жыл бұрын

    That's awesome!! So a PhD is a research degree, but typically you'll have a concentration in something. For example, your degree might just say "PhD in Psychology" but really you'll be an expert in Developmental Psych, Social Psych, or another topic. All you can do is search around different universities' websites and see what type of programs they have! Looking at professor's research is also a great way to know what exactly they study and what you might learn from them. There are psychologists who study trauma, for example Gail Goodman at UC Davis studies childhood eyewitness accounts which often includes some type of trauma to the child. The Ph.D. at Davis isn't called "trauma studies" but you could definitely learn a lot about that area by working with her. That's just an example though! Check out different programs would be my advice!

    So i was wondering olivia to work as a researcher in psychology what are the educational requirements like a bachelors in psych. A masters etc and whats the scope for research in paychology ?

  • @olivia_simone

    @olivia_simone

    4 жыл бұрын

    It depends on where you want to work. If you want to be a research assistant at a university lab, you usually need a bachelor's degree (although there are positions if you are currently an undergrad). If you want to be a head researcher at a university or for a federal agency for example, you need a Ph.D. Advertising agencies for example usually only require a Master's degree. It really depends on the field of work!

    The only advice I have would be to contact the internship center at your school or the counselors in the psych department if you're looking for a research internship.... if looking for more applied / mental health internships then I would just start searching community mental health centers and seeing what jobs they have posted! haha sorry, I'm not much help on that!
