Side imaging is one of the best tools to use even if you don’t know how to spot fish on it. Knowing where structures sre is half the battle. I grew up on the ocean (and own the home I grew up in), and over the years I’ve mapped everything for miles around (I own a fishing charter), and marked every piece of structure, every deep crevice, every log, shipwreck, and rock pile for dozens of miles with side and down imaging. It’s paid off, because as long as the conditions are good enough to be on ghe water, I can find my clients fish. Everything from Atlantic Cod to Striped Bass, all the way up to skipjack and yellowfin. Its amazing what technology does for us. And now that I’ve put livescope on my three charter boats, its even better. I knew it worked amazingly on my bass boat, but I thought it would have problems in salt water. I was very wrong.

This is an excellent video on side-imaging, one of the very best I have seen. The author has the intelligence and patience to explain exactly how to read the screen. This is a very intelligent angler and a first-class presentation. I love the rock, the Damiki rig and the flashlight. Perfect visualization of how the transducer works and what you see. Top-of-the-line video!

I have been fishing since I could walk and was well versed on catching fish in my home state, but then recently I moved my family and I to a new state where I know nothing about fishing the lakes that are in my area. I will start by saying that I have never subscribed to anyones channel nor did I have a youtube account, but after watching your videos I appreciate the quality of you content so much that I felt compelled to subscribe to your channel. The information that you are sharing and the simplicity in your explanations makes adapting to new lakes and using new techiques much easier. Thank you for your time and effort you put into these vids!

I like the content, for me to get a better perspective, I make the area and I go back over it with my 2D and down imaging to get better clarification of what SI showed me. 2D really gives me the information I need to decide if the returns are rock or fish depending on the density of the return. Thanks for sharing this information.

I started using a Lowrance flasher back in 1969, have been buying new electronics every 5 to 10 years since. Fine tuning these units off Auto, is the only way to get the most out of them. I like to take photos of my images, and have a close look at them at home on my 26 inch monitor. Put a new Helix 9 on the dash two weeks ago and have had a blast finding and catching fish using the big engine to locate the biggest schools.
