I love traveling with my art supplies. Of course I always take too much. Just so hard to slim down what I take. 😊 even what I take daily to work to use at lunch is probably more than I need. They just make me happy ❤

I know the feeling Heather 🤣😂🤣🤣
Thank you - when I travel I carry entirely too many supplies. I always envision I’ll have more quiet alone time on trips than I actually get!
I always pack heavy! I grew up with my parents ALWAYS saying “better to have it and not need it than need it and not have it” and that has shaped the way in which I travel 😂

Looool me and you both! x x
I always take too many art supplies. I’m like you, I’d rather have it and not need it, than need it and not have it. Thanks for sharing.
Wow! What wonderful loving sisters you are blessed. I travel light. I will take photos than complete my watercolor pictures back a the hotel. Continued creativity, success and safe travels.
Love you videos. Maybe look into making your own sketch pads. You can choose the paper you want. Choose the ideal size you want. I don’t think it’s as hard as you think it’s going to be and it turns out to be cheaper. You could spend a couple of hours making a few at a time. There are a few you tube videos about making your own and you could make a great video for your channel
I tend to pack more art supplies than I ever use but I also have a comfort palette that I even sometimes take to work if I end up with some down time lol
I always pack too heavy but like you I would rather have it and not need it then to need it and not have it. I’m trying to pack a little lighter by sorting all my supplies according to subject matter. Like putting all of my painting supplies together in one pouch and all of my sewing supplies in another pouch and so on. I have pouches for sewing, watercolor, sketching with graphite or charcoal, pastels and my ink and dip pens together. I even have a glass fountain pen. It’s gorgeous and very saving on ink. As I write or draw with it I noticed that I didn’t need to redip my pen for a very long time. I’ve been practicing drawing in ink with it. Hopefully this method works out. I can just grab a pouch or two but not all of them the next time I go out. I took all of the pouches today to my counseling appointment because I knew that my counselor would enjoy seeing my organization. She was very interested. This was a great video. Thank you for what you do for your fans. 😊
I'm traveling with the bare minimum in every regard. Partly because I have to be able to carry my own luggage and partly because practice showed that I am not using half of it anyways. When I am outside I want to do the sketch as quickly as I can (mostly because it gets uncomfortable very quickly to not have proper support of my hands/elbows/paper) so a pencil or a pen would do. I try to improve myself on this and be patient and do more elaborate sketches. And THANK YOU for pronouncing Budapest correctly!!!
Have several setups from miminal to everything but the kitchen sink. LOVE, LOVE the Art Toolkit palette. It's the one I grab the most. Thank you for great info.
Great travel set. I love the palette paper idea! Ans you have gorgeous hands! Cheers from Brasil!

Thank you so much ❤️
Excellent video! Thank you for sharing, very informative. I hope you had an amazing time during your trip!
I was in Budapest just one month ago, and I really enjoyed it. I even visited some of their art supply stores, and there is one called a warehouse kind of far from the city center but it’s a really cool place. I hope you enjoyed your trip!
I try and pack light but you know what it's like 😂, before I know it I have an entire art shop in my bag 😂, so interesting to see what you take, thank you
This is brilliant. Such an awesome job here.
I'm so enjoying watching this..
I always pack wayy to much because I like having so many choices. But I actually want to try and make a smaller palette and work with more limited colors. I think that would be a fun experience! That mechanical pencil looks great by the way! Might have to put that on my wishlist..
Oh I love the idea of the disposable palette sheets in a tin! Great idea. I pack so many art supplies just for my lunch break at work 😅 can’t imagine how much I’d bring for a whole trip. Beautiful & informative video as always
Loved the video. Happy Easter
Heaaavyyy hahaha definitely a heavy packer! Even when I sometimes go to see my parents for a day, I can pack a whole backpack with me - I think it’s some kind of a mental illness at this point😂😂 but jokes aside, it was really interesting to see what kind of art supplies you take with you on your travels now. And the fact that your sisters organised a trip to Budapest for you is super cool! I hope you had a great time!

@@SketchesnScrubs hahaha yes! I cannot leave my house without this pallet😂 I might actually have a panic attack if I do lol
That's an impressive amount of art supplies that you have for travel. One that I like the most is the watercolor set with cups on the side, Mrs. Burns has one like you also. Thank you for upload, pretty hair lady 😊😊
Patty-I don't get to do much traveling, so packing hasn't been something I have to think about. The only time I do is when I go to work. I paint in a coffeehouse near campus where I work. I work on my art during my lunch break and morning/afternoon breaks. I have a case where I carry essentials pertaining to the current project. This includes a set of water brushes, finelineres, erasers, and paint soap. I carry an empty ice cream container for water, a rag, and the water colors needed for that project. My sketch book is a Hannemule, and a Tumuarta sketch pad for my color swatches/mixing combos. All of that goes into my backpack along with my current reading book. 📚 I'm hoping to be able to get out more this year. One of my goals. I have many ideas for my painting. In fact, my current project is a gift for a friend. I'll let you know how it turns out. Thanks for sharing your tips.
Better to have & not need than need & not have. Especially when you are far away from home & limited opportunity. You can get away with less in your own home field. Overseas is not so convenient. Better to be sure you have everything you may need.

I feel the same way!! ❤️
Ive not travelled a long way with art supplies, but even locally or within my own state, I'm terrible!! I think your tips are so helpful, thank you. The palette knife to separate pages in blocks looks like a fab idea, better than the plastic things you often get with the blocks. Does it work better than them? If so, i think that's a must buy! I loved the balance of fun, scenery and art in this vid. Beautiful. x Nell.
I use cobalt teal in almost every painting I make. Its an absolute staple for me. Probably my favorite blue. That and the trusty ultramarine for life.
Thanks for the great video! I travel heavy vs light based on where I'm going and how long I'll be there.
Heavy😮
My litmus test for the travel kit is how well I can use it bed 😂

That’s an excellent way to go about it!
I am definitely a heavy packer because I never know which medium I'm going to be "feeling" at any given moment. 😂. Thank you, again, for sharing! Happy Easter!! He is risen! ❤️🌹✝️🌹❤️
I'm not the only over packer, very good to see haha! It's always fun to see what people take along on trips. Also, loved the end shots of the clouds with the sun 🥰
Light packer. Wonderful art created on this trip!
so nice ❤️😍
Your videos are always so well produced, could watch them forever! So informative! Definitely gearing myself up to paint on holiday one day 😁
I love my Etsy Rawlinson End travel set up, so I’d say packing light? Great video my sweet friend!

I ordered an A5 and A6 sketching “companion” setup after seeing your video on the Etsy Rawlinson End setup (he’s renamed his business to “Just Go Sketching”). I LOVE them and I’d like to order the A4 size for using at home so I can easily sit on the deck and use larger metal palettes. The A5 and A6 are both wonderful though. Car trips = take whatever I feel I might remotely need; air travel = pack pretty lightly (carry-on only).
I definitely pack far too many art supplies when travelling 😂 great video, loved to hear your reasons for what you bring with you on your trips 😊
I am also the biggest “have it and not need it…” girl! I’m so bad, I cannot zip my bag closed, and chances are it will be too heavy for me to carry! So I huff and puff and drag!😂 I don’t go on trip’s anymore, lol! Probably a good thing!
I’ve been really enjoying your travel and supply vlogs lately . I am new to gouache so I may need some of your expert advice 😂 I also haven’t tried urban sketching or plein air yet but I am super interested in it! I’ve just ordered the stay wet palette through your link so thank you for that. Are there any art boards that you would recommend? I know you mentioned the travel case which looks good but I was hoping for more storage pockets in it.
I pack heavy because I can't choose amongst my art supplies 😭 whenever I've packed light I've regretted it!
First!
I try to pack light (clothes and art supplies) so I can buy clothes, food, and art supply souvenirs. I don’t always succeed on packing light on my art supplies, but I try. 😅

@@SketchesnScrubs thank you and you’re welcome! It’s a drawing of a marble that I colored with coloring pencils. ❤️☺️
I'm a heavy packer!
I make the airplanes that you travel on…but don’t travel 🤣I pack light when I bring my art supplies to work ( Boeing) ✈️
Ohhh, have you tried cotton Hahnemuhle sketchbook? I don’t remember. It’s great! Tooth is in between hot and cold pressed, good for ink too and pretty durable. Also - did you know Baohong makes sketchbooks? I bought mine on Artemiranda, it’s only landscape I think and cover is pretty bulky, but it’s still nice for shorter trips/walks (Hahnemuhle’s is better suited for longer travels because it’s so nicely flat)

I really want to try the cotton one but infinally bought the a5 cellulose for quick urbam sketches and I actually love it for that. I thought I would dislike how few pages there are but I am actually just enjoying how thin and light it is.

I am curious - did you have to put your watercolours in your carryon liquids bag, or do they qualify as a “solid”?
