Get a shallow pan or box that are big enough to put the cat food containers in. Before you put the containers in the box or pan, cover the bottom of the inside with baby or talcum powder then put the food containers in the powder. The powder will keep the ants out of the cats food. I've been putting my cat food bowls in powder for years. The powder does need to be replaced every now and then. This really does work.
