What are the Pandora papers?
The Pandora papers are the the latest - and largest in terms of data volume - in a series of major leaks of financial data, and reveal how some of the world's richest people are using hidden offshore tax havens. So, how does the offshore world actually work? Is it always illegal? And why is this all such a big deal? The Guardian's Luke Harding explains

Exactly. What'll probably end up happening eventually with this kind of info is crackdown on the people that these journalists don't like (Guardian defended the Blair's in their article because they are cut from the same cloth as their owners, neoliberal globalists) and will also start pushing for tax harmony that only centralizes even further government control, will likely just tighten the net around the poor and middle classes whilst the elites build in just another system to avoid the new measures in plain sight and no one will do or say anything about it.

Each country has a different tax system. So, depending on the country your money is in, you can pay more or less tax.
This has never been a secret and, as the people who use these type of tax avoidance schemes are the very same people who make up laws relating to tax and tax avoidance schemes, there's (legally) no issue here.

Therein lies the real scandal. While the middle class can't avoid tax unless they turn to illegal means and the poor get thrown the scraps, the wealthy pay a far, far smaller percentage of their wealth in taxes, yet that is all legal. Worse, of course, that Bezos's space escapades are treated with awe by the media, yet those forced to scrape together a living are vilified.

People can be, somewhat very superficial. On my quest to achieve this I have learnt a lot about human nature. It seems to me that those who are not given traits such as beauty or being wealthy are some of the nicest, kindest and generous people. While the "gorgeous" and well off seem to be the most arrogant and greedy people out there. Of course that's not to say there aren't beautiful kind people out there. I've been in the process of change for a while now and I have made some decent changes but don't you just hate it when people can't let go of your past mistakes. I saw your profile and it intrigued me. I wanted to learn more about who you are and what type of path you would like on in life. Can we talk?

Just to be clear, the stamp duty and property taxes on offshore owned property in the UK actually results in a higher tax rate and has done since the crash. So if i but a 20M pound house in london via an offshore entity i would pay an extra 2% plus a lot more in owners taxes than just the council tax. Being incorporated offshore can result in lower taxes but for most UHNW individuals, using such structures affords the moat paramount thing: security though privacy. If a property is known to owned and used by a royal or a UHNWI then the local law enforcement will have a much higher duty of care for securing it due to the increased likelihood of targeting of the property or the people (including staff) connected to the property. These issues are the core reason why most people choose offshore discrete corporate structures for ownership. They afford little in tax advantage in the UK and USA but reduce public costs in policing and afford the owner a higher level of security. The DPG in the UK would likely advise the same as if a property is know to be owned and used by a foreign head of state it would require a much higher presence both overt and covert to deal with. Re the Blairs and their office, it is normal for an office to be owned by a company and the historic norm for property holding companies to be purchased. The realisation of a tax will come on disposal for the Marylebone property as opposed to a corporate-headquarters of any other non UK company that sells its discretely held assets or itself in its entirety. If a french firm sells itself and it holds property, any duty that may be received will be received by France and will not benefit the UK. That is the nature of ownership rights

Further to this all offshore owners pay council tax but do not benefit from most council services resulting in yet another net gain. And again back to the royals pointed out: they would have no tax benefit but the local policing would be in significant pocket by the lack of visibility of a high risk resident.
