What are the best Romano-British units in Rome: Total War Barbarian Invasion?

Ойындар

In this video I present my opinion of Romano-British roster in Rome: Total War Barbarian Invasion in campaign setting. What are the best units and what are trash? The units are not measured only based on their fighting capabilities but also on how easy it is to recruit them, how well you can rely on them, and so on. The unit images are from the original Barbarian Invasion, because, frankly, they look better :)
What do you think? Should a unit be higher or lower in the tier list and why. Share your opinion in the comments!

After watching the movie "King Arthur," I just can't help but to check out your Romano-British faction review. Honestly, given their small unit size and legendary status, I really think Graal knights should be awarded with two hitpoints. I also notice Sarmatian Auxilia actually fight with swords despite having a spear on their unit card.

Thanks for the comment. It is interesting to compare e.g. that movie with the games. I fully agree that the Graal Knights should have 2 hp, perhaps a small addition to the price as well then. :)

@@qualityoldgames7721 More like the legend of King Arthur inspired me to check out this faction. I was, however, disappointed to not see Hounds of Culann at the Battle of Badon Hills; and peculiarly, the Picts were covered in woad.🤔

I agree with the positions, I love playing Romano-British but the units of this faction are average to below average and their cavalry is what it is worth and even it is far from being one of the best. I haven't seen your series playing Romano-British yet, but I will. Good video!

Thanks for the comment. Agreed on their roster. In my opinion, what is going for R-B are free armies that spawn periodically and that the requirements for Sarmatian Auxilia are so low.

Thanks for your video, man! I actually was thinking, that free armies of R-B is a bug. It mainly annoyed me, tbh, bc I am used to have control over my recruitment (and economics). Additionally, thank you for your WRE units list. After watching it, I finally manned up for a WRE campaign, and have beat it last week, using Sarmatian Auxilia mainly. What a great unit.

Thank you! :) Those free armies pretty much wrecked my economy always but they were pretty useful as well. I am glad that the vids have been of help

11:34 wait, you can actually train those guys? In my game they were only avalible in custom battles and I had to manualy add them to archery building in the files. But I have the old version so it's propably the reason, they must have fixed it in later versions

Don't know about versions, but at least in Remastered I saw them only available in Londinium and Eburacum. So you cannot train them in every city. I guess it is similar to Spartan Hoplites of original Romen.

@@tomaszzalewski4541 Thanks for the question. In Remastered (both original and Barbarian Invasion) almost all the factions (excluding Rebels and the Senate) are added to the game. So R-B work very well in the Remaster :) An interesting faction because it starts without settlements but spawns free armies.

I've never really been a fan of the faction. It's a WRE palette swap with graal knights which you can recruit as mercs anyway. A lot of their units have slightly lower stats and increased recruitment and upkeep costs in comparison to their WRE equivalents. Even if they emerge in a normal campaign, they aren't that threatening.

Thanks for the comment. Agreed. Their main strength in the campaign is that they spawn free armies periodically. Because of this and the playing mechanics (no starting settlement + only 1 starting family member), they are quite unique faction in my opinion. :)

Do you play Mods? If you do I highly Recommend Extended Greek Mod(Alexander version for less crash) Every faction is solid. Except Thrace (The punching bag of Greece)

I don't remember this faction in BI, do you unlock it after winning? I am on a very good way with the Franks and I remember hiring Graal Knights as mercenaries in central Gaul... The Sassanid campaign is very difficult, I mean I can compensate for the lack of strong infantry, but the public order is very hard to maintain. And if a city rebels they get a very strong army with maximum experience, weapons and armor, plus a decent garrison for the city, amazing... lol :) To recruit the Sughdian Warriors you need maximum level of barracks I think, that's great... :D
