Prior to this, he worked at Earnest (a start-up, recently acquired by Navient), Yammer (a Microsoft acquisition), and Microsoft (on the PowerPoint team). This guy is really humble.
thank you! one of the best I've seen on YT. Very clear and simple to understand.
As a first year PM, this presentation enables me to jump out of a particular feature that I'm building and to see how it fits into the overall PM role. Thank you!

“The process can get tiring...typically, perennially in a state of urgency and everything’s on fire…” Sounds like project management and exactly what I'm trying to escape. But there' still something intriguing about creating something valuable and testing it with the people who need it most...something engineering (traditional not software) just hasn't given me, despite that being the promise of the profession. It's more so maintaining the systems that have already been created. Anyway, thanks for the helpful video. I'll be checking out more from the Product School.

This is exactly how I feel as well, coming from traditional engineering. :) I look at PM as operational training to help build companies of my own.
Good summary. An interesting observance is how much waterfall there is in this presentation. The PRD doc is the good example. The thing to think about is that agile still requires a level of waterfall surrounding the dev agile process. At minimum, there is always some level in the company thinking more in quarters, half years, and years rather then say two week sprints. Another thing to keep in mind if using agile is that the project management functions do NOT go away. The need to organize, prioritize, assign, track, etc. is still there. The agile process can help but don't fall into the trap of thinking that no role needs to own some coordination and push. You can get this from the PM, SM, Team Lead, Lead Engineer, or whatever. It could be a mix. The point is that you still need it. I see teams fall into the trap of thoughts like "the team owns it" which in the end is often the same as "no one owns it".
by far one of the best video I have seen on product Management!
Helpful, Insightful, and learned a few things! Great stuff, Ankit (y)
Useful information, thank you!
So far great information.
Just starting my role as pm. This is very helpful.
Great Input and really cool guy:) Currently in B2B Productmanagement but plan on going to Business School and change to B2C (guess I will be able to better relate to the products:))
Good presentation. Thank you Ankit and Product School for this.
Excellent video for people who are exploring this as a career option. It would really help to embed the Questions from Q&A either in slides or in the video.
awesome video, I wish I watched this before last weeks interview where I was asked the question how would you design a product you love :)
What are the tools that are used for launching with cross functional teams? Launch Cal and Areon(spelling?)
It is indeed one of the best introductory videos on Product Management

Hey Guys, that's a really nice education that I get from these videos, I wonder if you can include the presentation in the split window in this video itself, I know, I have an option to go split myself, but just a suggestion for ease of watching. really a low priority request though :)

What are the factors taken into consideration while formulating your product strategy being a PM?
I understand why I am not getting this as effectively or quickly. I lack the initial coding skills and the TIME to learn, plan for the future and stay motivated. This causes fear and anxiety a basic human function. I wonder if this type of process can be done differently and more efficiently. May I give theory or suggestion?

I hope the audio quality is better
This video could be so much better if the Q&A was either taken out or the questions from the audience were possible to understand (even some transcribing on the screen would be terrific - sometimes it is hard to figure out what the original question was). Also, as others pointed out, some content on the slides are impossible to read.

This process seems very scientific which I understand. However, if we allowed a more fluid and open discussion of product and preferences for customers I would ask the more creative types rather than the technical types. Since 1 typically hones in on details and the other on the possobilities.
It will be nice to get a link to dowload the presentation.
