How True Are THESE Stereotypes According to Swedes?

Ойын-сауық

I ask Swedes on the streets of Gothenburg on what they think is the most true and least true stereotype about Sweden. Are Swedes really rich? Are Swedes as happy as they say? Are Swedes reserved and unfriendly?

I think there is a missconconception where some people think they are not blond beceause its common in sweden to be born blond but as you get older you get darker and darker hair. until you have like what we call it "rat-grey" or sometimes like for me it is actually brown. But I was totally blond as a child. These people should probably be called blond because that is how they started.

My Quiz Results are in. Most Compatible: Greece -- Second Most Compatible: Poland Those almost seem contradictory. Being from the American Midwest, it does seem a middle ground between northern and southern European personalities. When in Europe, I do feel agile enough to relate to both. I selected balance in most answers. Living with spontaneity and affection, but within the traditional roles for the sexes.

My results: Most Compatible: USA Second Most Compatible: Australia Least Compatible: Colombia I’m from USA myself, so it’s interesting that my most compatible country is the States. Maybe it’s because I live on the West Coast? Australia being my second makes sense because the culture seems very laid back and chill, which I am! I need to research Colombia to find out the reason it’s my least. Good quiz regardless! 🙂

There's a thing that stuck me in Sweden, as a Portuguese. Being interrupted and to interrupt (insert regret face) a normal informal conversation is quite common in Portugal. However, that's not the case in Sweden. Especially Northern Sweden, they will let you talk and talk and they will only reply when you finish your point, after waiting some seconds, just to make sure you really ended speaking. This is really interesting in my opinion.

I do believe it is a sign of respect and shows you are genuinely interested in the other persons comments rather than trying to get your bit out. I think it makes for a better exchange and leaves others feeling happier and more satisfied with an exchange. Thank you.

Most Swedes like some kind of herring, like North Germans, but apart from Norrland, we usually don't like "surströmming" ... in Lund, people gathering around "surströmming" are thereby showing they come from about as far North of Lund as Rome is South of Lund ... However, once you do (it is not as hard as they make it sound), you will have a genuine friend for life. True, there are unwritten rules, as with many cultures, however, I never saw it as stark as people say it is. Plus this is Stockholm. Like going to New York or Paris and making the mistake of thinking all Americans are like New Yorkers or all French are like Parisians.

All cultures have unwritten rules that has become the norm beacuse people like it that way. Like the "rules" to not start talking to strangers on the street and so on. Here, that is a sign of respect to not "go inside" someones personal space and just ego-start something with them. To the world.. Swedes are not cold people!! Just be socially aware of the people around you and not act entitled to talk with people who are not making eye contact or seems wanna have a chat with you too 💗✌🏼
