People are already experiencing the high costs of living here and moving to colder states like Iowa, Montana & Idaho. I honestly cannot wait to move from Phoenix. The heat is not for me despite living here my whole life. I feel like it took a toll on my health too tbh lol

Grim! But we haven’t reached that 50C that I see in your background. When that temp was reached all FAR part 121 operations (airlines) were cancelled.

As someone who lives in CA currently I can vouch that Phoenix prices are still nowhere near CA prices-rent nor purchasing. I see the market now and your average costs for rent are what we would charge either in a bad neighborhood you’ll have a 1/20 chance being a victim of a crime, have no laundry and/or no parking included, and most certainly nothing in the unit will have been updated in 20 years. For purchasing, you’ll find more of the qualms as with renting I previously mentioned if you see a place going for under $400K. If you see a place $400-500K it’s likely for sub 600 sqft place and/or in the middle of nowhere. For single family homes, you’ll find a 700sqft house on very little land for about $1.2M. Alternately, you can find a trailer if you want to spend less then $400K.

@@BabyMav10 Phoenix metro is something like the 5th largest city in the US. If your goal is to be in a stagnant city without growth, then you’re in the wrong place. Growth equals cost increase because it also equals more jobs (and higher paying ones). If people are struggling now, they are likely to have struggled as much or more without the higher amount of jobs now. No place in this country is easy right now. Things are not what they used to be anywhere so let’s not point fingers to lay blame because you’re frustrated with the economy like the rest of the hundreds of millions in this country.

At least it's a dry heat. I lived in Tempe and Tucson for several years. I live on a lake in Southeast Texas now. 5 months of high heat and humidity everyday. Outdoor activity is limited. Love the storms and the lush green landscapes though. Tons of people moving here and growth is exploding.

I’m amazed at how hot it can get there.

You stated that you would rather deal with the heat vs waking up 2 hours earlier to shovel snow . I completely disagree. Cold I can handle . Heat I cannot . Maybe you lose 2 hours to shovel snow in morning , but how much better do you sleep in the cold? I will take cold over heat every time .

From your observation, is it advantageous for a buyer to come in during July-September to buy a home? I'm guessing that most people house hunting- especially those from out of state- would avoid the Phoenix metro area during that time due to the intense heat. I was wondering if there might be better deals and selections during that window of time.

The only time our market slows down is during the holiday season which is end of November to End of December. Our market actually has the most transactions from April-August, so it doesn’t slow down during the summer months surprisingly! I think because families are out of school, many people are looking to move during the summer so there isn’t much slow down

@@TrevorBragg-1 I thought with the oppressive summer heat that only those in a desperate situation would be buying during that time. But the reason you said makes sense if locals are upgrading to a new home and want to be in it in time for their kids to start school. It definitely surprised me that April-August had the most transactions! I would have thought January-April would be your busiest time with winter/spring visitors in town buying retirement homes. Thanks for your input, and now I won't be surprise if I show up in August and find the real estate market busy!

You know 100 degrees is pretty nice for us and like 75 is cold for us

Don’t forget to mention “no-sees”, tiny mosquito-like fleas that are nearly invisible biting feet and ankles. Another is the issue with walking dogs in summer, the sidewalks and concrete are too hot for their foot pads.

I'm from Switzerland, and I have a business event soon in Phoenix. I enjoy visiting the states and I was considering to stay a few days (in July) after the event. Would you recommend staying or just leaving to Europe after the event? 🇨🇭🇺🇲

Leave Arizona and the states Asap! And don’t look back! I’m from California and I’m currently planning my winter trip for your beautiful country of Switzerland 🇨🇭!!! I just applied for my toddler’s passport so once that gets to me the trip will be paid for.🙏🏻🙏🏻 I’m soo stoked to visit Switzerland it’s been a dream of mine since age 15. I’m now 27 making it happen.

I enjoy the states because of the very affordable housing prices, the very friendly culture, and the protection of freedom in certain fields that I miss here in Switzerland.🇺🇲🇨🇭

I’ve been living in greater phoenix metro area since the early 1990’s. I say, bring on the heat. I walk at least 3 miles a day all year round. If you don’t like the heat, walk in it on purpose. Wear a hat, bring plenty of water and pace yourself. You acclimate to it and then you also really appreciate the other 8 months which are perfect. I’m from Chicago, so I also used to walk and run outside during those brutal winter months, same thing when I lived in London for 5 years, ran and walked in the rain. Florida and Houston Texas I’d walk and run in the bug infested humidity. And so on. Enjoy the misery, it becomes less miserable.

Would you recommend me to move to Phoenix if I got a job to work outside? Now its a good paying job with amazing benefits, but something about that summer weather is telling me to stay away.

Well, plenty of people do it! I can't say its the best place in the world to work outside especially over summer, but people do it and live just fine. Many jobs that are outside tend to have early morning hours over summers especially in construction you will see them on the roads at like 4 AM to beat the heat and then be done by noon.

We all survive the summers. If you are coming for a fun vacation outside, then yes you shouldn't come now! There is still plenty to do inside, but July and August are the hottest. So I wouldn't expect to come out and do much outside except be in a pool

Would you recommmend visiting Arizona in July or wait until fall ?

In fall and winter you have to deal with snowbirds. Summer they are not here thankfully

For the life of me I will never understand why early settlers didn’t decide to make the city of Phoenix somewhere like the Prescott (or Flagstaff, Pine, Show Low, or any of the other AZ areas that don’t get crazy hot) instead of where they chose. With no AC, freezers, wearing clothes that cover your whole body, they decided to make a place that’s excruciatingly hot from mid-May to late October the major city and capital of the state. Whyyy??

If you mean for just short trips, Flagstaff is the #1 spot for just a weekend getaway. It is about 1.5 hours away, and is usually the ins 80s over summer. Residents don't actually leave and move to another state for the summer unless they are retired. We always plan our longer vacations over summer so that we can escape the heat for a week

@@djkache cold is always bearable. you can just wear wool or proper clothing and layer down once you heat up from your body heat. no clothing can cool you down from heat like that

Natives living here were far more wiser (than your average city Joe) and worked together with the mother nature and elements to make them thrive here until we showed up. Although it can get over 120F in some areas here the fact is that we rarely see +120F in Phoenix metro despite of it being a total concrete jungle which retains the heat not to mention weather modification tech that didn't exist lets say 100 years ago. Not all Arizona is a desert. We have a plenty high country lush green forest. If you travel in a straight line over about 60 miles from PHX to Payson the weather there is cooler in the summer. Even Tucson gets 5 deg. cooler than Phoenix in the summer. Not just dry heat we have plenty hot humid days during monsoon months and frosty morning in the winter.

I rather be homeless in a cooler climate then be wealthy living in Arizona haha

I am probably the only person on planet earth that absolutely HATES the dry heat. I lived in Atlanta for 5 years before moving back to Scottsdale and I can tell you I had some of the healthiest skin I’ve ever had. Here my eyeballs are dried out, my skin feels like leather. No thanks. I’ll take humidity over this any day.
