I've also struggled with hitting my long irons further than my shorter ones (e.g., my 4, 5, and 6 irons used to carry about the same distance), even when I felt like I had good contact. What I learned was that I was not compressing the ball enough at impact, I was merely picking it clean, which hurts yardages in pretty much all clubs (but especially the longer ones). A friend of mine told me that, generally, the longer (in good taste) you keep your left arm straight throughout the swing, the more compression you'll get. Once I started keeping my left arm straight throughout more of my swing (with practice of course, it took some swings to get used to) I noticed a pretty dramatic change in my ability to hit my longer clubs, especially my 3W, 4I, and 5I. Regardless, I do enjoy your content and watching you progress, so carry on!

Quite relatable! Mia's a better golfer than me, but I enjoy seeing her going through the same pain points as me. I was also a bit disappointed when I tried to calculate my carry distances, and I'm currently learning a draw swing! However I can't imagine trying to hit decent shots whilst being filmed and watched by a pro fitter, so good on you!

a really important point is being highlighted here. Too many club golfers think about total distance more than carry. If you're 180 yards from the pin and that is say a 5i, maybe when you land in the bunker at the front of the green it wasn't a bad shot, you just do not understand how far your ball carries through the air.

Mia your swing is coming on leaps and bounds! Just a bit of advice to take out that left to right tendency on your drive swing. Your shoulders seem a little bit open at address. If you pull your right shoulder back a bit, it'd give you a shallower swing arc and keep that obvious push out at 2 o'clock swing path that you have, you'd turn your fade into a nice delicate draw. Anyway, loving the content as always, thank you! :)

Nice swing but I think you're leaving 20-30 yards on the table with the mid irons. My unsolicited advice would be to speed up your take away in the backswing for more distance and shift your weight to your lead foot while the club is near the top of the backswing.

OMGOODNESS!!! 😃 That was incredibly Awesome!!! It was like a behind the scenes footage of what Tour Players do to help improve, and dial in their game!!! No wonder they hit such Amazing shots!!! Technology and skilled professionals behind the scenes 🤔 This raises a a serious question in my mind. Were the golfers a decade ago better than the golfers today? Absolutely Yes!!! Because they had to make their golf shots based on experience!!! Not Technology!!!

Nice video Mia! Three points of note... 1) You got fitted for these irons, and yet you didn't know you could adjust the loft 2) During your fitting you hit a 7 iron 170 yards I'd wager that the fitter you used wasn't very good if he didn't explain this stuff, and maybe his machine was juiced 3) You've got Taylormade clubs, that you were fitted for, and yet the lie angle was about 2 degrees out on some of them. Surely they built them? That tolerance is awful

Hey Mia. Definitely enjoyed your gapping session but I have one major discrepancy that glares to me. If you look at your gaps in yds between clubs from Gap to 7W, It goes 13, 12, 10, 14, 7, 6, 9, 11, you have gaps as low as 6 yds and as high as 22 yds between clubs. If the fitter said his goal was 11-14 yds, he missed the mark on 4 of the 10 clubs. Doesn't seem to be making sense to me. May want to clarify that because if that is the case, why carry the 6 Iron when your 5 Hybrid covers the 11-14 yard gap perfectly. Just things I have learned when I was gapped 2 yrs ago and since then in research. Thanks otherwise for showing the process. Jason

You called him gorgeous at the beginning of the video and if you didn’t notice, he was giving you the mating signs when he had the 2 driver heads in his hands at around the 22 minute mark. He was talking to you while rubbing them on his chest to polish them up. Good luck if you do! 😊

Ok, here me out. If you're a new golfer, you should be improving monthly or so. You go to something like this, and within a few months, it's not relevant anymore as you progress. It's like buying a $1000 pair of shoes for a 3 year old. I guess if you're rich, then who cares, but most people aren't.
