Hi mate, I wanted to say thanks for getting me to start this and reaching out, it made a world of difference. Got a ers grant for Jan and iam joining IAM after that 😂 need to keep saving, bike prices have gone silly, 3800 for a 20 year old serrow, 🤬🤬🤬🤐 Madness! But take care and ride safe, and have a wonderful new year! 🥳🥳

Hi smithster! Yes I'm really amazed, ive received so much support and encouragement Its made a world of difference. I didn't know anyone who rode when I started and didn't have anyone to ask questions - I tried going to a few meets. The first was kids popping wheelies and mako a nuisance of themselves - so I left. The second didn't want me there and just blanked me. But the community here has kept me going and I'm grateful! Ive listened and got a enhanced riding scheme course, hopefully in Jan! See where this takes us! Take care and have a great new year mate 😀🖖🏼

I like Pooley and his dad, his green glowing stickers adorn both our bikes. My opinion is do the travel, experience new places. Its always so much better seeing it all on two wheels. My pal (and Saddlebags 73's) The Boxed Out Adventurer can offer lots of advice on touring Spain, he and his girlfriend are heading out there again in 2022. If its Northern Spain Picos area I can probably help and there is a full set of vids in my back catalogue on how we did it, where we stopped and a link to all the GPX route files. Have a great Christmas, take care and best wishes

Hi Bandit! That's really generous! I will most definitely have a look and pick your brain if I go, Pooley is a sound bloke and a hoot, we did John o groats together and was nattering on with him today. Thank you for watching it's really appreciated, my best wishes for xmas, have a great time and even better new year. Hopefully we are really close by and will cross each other soon!! Take care mate! 🙏🥳🖖🏼😁

I'm voting option 3, I think a couple decent courses will take you new places with new people and new skills. Option 2 is OK, but it's alot of money and only so many times you can ride the same offroad tracks where you live before you run out. The bike you have now is good for that isn't it? Option 1 is good but a one trip pony, and although different and id really like to watch the trip, it could all be over in a week or whatever time you spend there. That being said, there is no wrong answer. All 3 would be the best way 🤔but a little pricey unfortunately! Great to see another vid up. I really value you here and supporting all our channels. Thankyou

Thank you ER, really interesting, I think it is so up in the air at the moment due to covid and bike prices going crazy. I've seen a cheap 600 in the forum for 1k that would be brilliant off road with a 14 tooth sprocket and knoblies, brilliant at home to get around...but donkey could do that too.... Thank you for commenting, your guidance is really appreciated and your constant support. Please have a great Christmas and party on!! 😁😁🥳🥳🥳 Chat soon mate!

Kode!!!!! I have listened! Just got a grant for the enhanced riding scheme, it's in mid January and it's my way in to the institute of advanced motorists (IAM). They have weekly skills development and is a group of very experienced riders so many brains to pick! I'm just going to save for a while, all the fun stuff is expensive! See what happens. Thanks for watching and commenting, really appreciated. Take care and have a fantastic new year mate! 😀🖖🏼

Happy Christmas and New Year. Some good options there mate, be good to see you doing some green lanes, might be worth doing an off road experience day first though in case it turns out to be something you don't enjoy as much as you hope.... but green laning is sooooo much fun 🙂

I live on a farm in peaks so I use it to get around, but I lived in South America for 3years in the Andes. My klr650 is how I got around. Just not touched a bike since then and didn't have a UK license. It's just really restrictive here and so many rules and it's not easy to meet people here without them getting out a ruler to measure their..er....emm greatness 🤣🤣🤣 just not found the right company for it yet. I need to learn again so I'm ready to handle anything that comes my way. I'm just a little broke to afford much at the moment, covid really has scuppered a lot for me. Ive tried a few groups but between covid and not feeling very welcomed I'm stuck Thanks for commenting and the support, it's really appreciated 😀😀🙏🙏🖖🏼🥳

@@quinnpeaksbiker The TRF is a good organisation to find some people to guide you around some legal places to ride, and riding around on your farm will be a great place to practice to get your confidence back :-)

I'd echo what Exeter Rider says, but if you are going to take a course consider looking BikeSafe first. It is a scheme run by motorcycle Police Officers, is a good first step and will point you in the right direction for your next step. Option 2 does not have to be expensive, there are lots of s/h options on Ebay and in MCN but spend some time finding the trails first. I have a very capable Armstrong MT500, what I don't have, even living in the heart of the Westcountry, are lots of places to play. Hopefully in Derbyshire you have a much better choice of offroad routes but I'd spend some time with maps and on line before getting a bike. Whatever you choose to do, have a great time and don't forget to explore the UK some more, I have a week in Wales planned, plus a need to try out the Crieff Cloverleaf. Ride Safe.

My opinion (which I give freely because that's what it's worth): 1. Travel to Spain. Time in the saddle will help you figure out what you really like/don't like doing. 2. Join a local IAM or RoSPA group: you will meet local bikers who will prove invaluable with further advice and further experience. Do this before shelling out bucks for a "professional" course. 3. Use the bikes you already have. Merry Christmas, buddy. 🎅

@@exeterrider I got a grant for enhanced rider training, so that's in January and another certificate. I've got the money ready for the iam membership as the person who will will do the ers assessment is the head of iam Derbyshire I think. He was the guy who took me out for a day after my CBT. Great advice, lots to think about. I think if I go in September time should give me enough time to save up and be ready for it. Thanks again for all, really appreciated 🙏🙏😀😀

@@NooBiker I met a Ex Dakar rider who is now teaching specialist courses and really knows his stuff, he recommended KTM as the best in the country for newbies as the focus on fundamentals and really work you hard, but 550 for 2 days at bronze level. I have decided to join iam after listening to you and your friend with the transalp, I will wait till January and after bills are paid off, it's on the list 🤣🤣🤣 yes I will pick their brain and have all summer. It's looking more like I will keep donkey as my farm bike and will be good to develop them before I get on patita and injure her. Thanks again for all, really value and appreciate your support. Hiya mate! Lol I think these days I'm popping paracetamols and blood pressure meds than wheelies 🤣🤣🤣 id love to travel more but kids, work and family need me too. We are all in the same boat, balancing so many things. Bike prices have gone nuts and everything is just out of my range at the moment. Things that were 2500 like the xt660 pre covid are hitting the 4k mark. I've been priced out. So all I can do is save and keep upgrading my stuff and look for days off to ride. Can't wait to see you up this way soon! Take care mate and thanks for all the support! Really appreciated! 🥳🥳
