@ I didnt say anything about Fox viewers or whether they are good or bad, just that the network Fox is extremely biased. Which they are. My boss keeps Fox blasting all the time at work and the other day I heard one of their hosts arguing that any think group such as think tanks or foundations funded by the Republican party should be "completely defunded if they have ever said or done anything against the [Republican] party" refering to something they'd mentioned earlier about a research group or think tank that had produced a conclusion that didnt jive with what Trump wanted, or "if they've ever criticized President Trump". Arguing that a research group or think tank that produces research that doesnt show the result you want should be completely defunded is the sort of biased thing I hear alot on there. They hold too close to party doctrine for me to consider them unbiased. They tend to put a political slant on almost everything so it's really surprising to come across something that does a clinical dissection like this. I wish they did this more often on their TV news channel

  • 4 жыл бұрын

@@arthas640 I didn't accuse you of saying anything about Fox viewers. All media networks are biased. Do you think that Fox is any worse than CCN, The Guardian or the Huff Post? At the time of the 2016 elections there were 300 news outlets against Trump but only 20 for. There's a bias in the bias - left wing meta-bias if you will. That, in my view is a problem. Left-wing media is pulling the world ever further left towards Marxism and that always, always ends up in destruction and a huge body count.

I'm a leftist liberal democrat educated in the liberal arts and I can see that the diversity project has become a euphemism for 'anti-white male' and that if you're a white male and don't self-loathe the extreme left then equates you as a racist. I just wish that other white males who have also experienced this were more clever and intelligent about how they got the point across. You don't need to become a white nationalist to convey that things have gone awry and when you do you just give fuel to leftist racists who hate you and you allow yourself to be played.

These group identities are like a nucleus. The more neutrons they absorb, the more unstable they become. Unstable to the point where they spit out an electron to the neighboring nucleus that is of a different element and it resonates. And yes, there's always the one nucleus that has way too many neutrons and splits into two different groups.

Part of the problem I see, is when you pose this question, things are clearer: Are we here to build a nation, or an economy? And things quickly fall in line. Yep, America was a country built on "immigration", but it was immigrants coming from the same host countries that built it. Europe was united by religion and very similar values because of the Roman Empire. Even French, English and Italians use the same alphabet, because of the Romans. So an Italian immigrant wasn't radically different from a French person. When we look at the modern day world, banks and corporations just want to build an economy. They don't care how they make their money -- someone who is white or whether someone is purple with green polka-dots. They don't care, as long as they can make money off of someone.

Inner cities present most of the major problems we see in America and abroad. Not to put to firm of pressure on it but, it really boils down to immaturity that is fostered perhaps even all to often cultivated within inner cities cess pools that largely leave individuals anonymous in their actions and behaviors.

Identity politics derives from insecure individuals compensating by identifying with a group in order to share in group stature. If someone can't cope on their own, they adopt a group identity as a crutch. Maybe it's only sports team, maybe it a neighborhood gang, maybe a religious group, maybe they enlist in a military group, a political group, or a poker group. How often do people "join" a group because they can't cope alone? Us versus them? Yet, too often, life is much more complicated than two sides to an issue. US society is >320 million sides...two sides can never work.

Amusingly a lot of people watched the video, enjoyed it but then noticed it was from Fox. There's been a shift fellas. Media platforms previously occupying the left of center space have been migrating further and further to left. Fox has moved into the center spot - the clever place to be because that's where the bulk of voters are. They can now be more moderate and reasoned and still be heard above the noise. CNN and the like are now the crazies: "Mostly peaceful protests" (building in background burning to the ground, shops being looted). It's a big error on their part but they're not even aware of it so on they march further left.

Identity politics is when people give up about democracy, that is, when you think democracy won't work because the rival group has an hegemony and your issues won't be considered relevant enough be object of policies. Reversing the roles of who is oppressed and who's the oppressor is never a sustainable solution. What's happening in South Africa is awful, deplorable. All kinds of racism are awful. That includes the denial of racism against white people.

Poorly and inaccurately explained. The problem with identity politics is that it destroys critical and independent thinking: you're supposed to think exactly like "the majority" within your tribe (which itself is a dubious idea because the impression that there is a "majority" consensus in a social group can be fabricated, for example by being very vociferous). If you dare to disagree with one of the tribe's seeming core beliefs, you're held in contempt as a "traitor" and shunned. THAT is identity politics.

The problem with this video is that it doesn’t talk about the identity of Whiteness and the wrongfulness of making it the default for life in America. Consequently when “American unity” unity is championed its not seen for the promotion of White identity and identity politics that it is.

Good point. some political theorists think it was around the early 60's when structural inequality really took hold and party politics became critical, then character was no longer relevant, all that mattered was the affiliation or association with group and party. MLK's speech about character reflects the problem of character no longer being relevant, only the deed, not the doer, counts as Nietzsche said. Today we have the totally characterless Trump and characterless GOP who simply find the weakness on their opponent and exploit - they have turned into lying nazi's!

Identity politics is just a fancier, more accepted word or term for "discrimination." Thus, people are more accepting of identity politics than they are of discrimination. But the term we should all be going back to and the term in which this country was built upon is ASSIMILATION. When we assimilated, we were united as ONE. Since assimilation has been done away with, we have increasingly become more divided. Restore assimilation.

America was founded on identity politics. Questions, could a (insert racial identity other than white) be elected president of the United States in any of the following years 1910, 1920, 1930, 1940, 1950, etc? Yes the civil rights movement was against identity politics but it never succeeded in ending it.

If the difference of opinion is strictly confined to the issues on which the opinions of the concerned parties differ from each other, then they cannot be accused of playing identity politics. However, they can be accused of playing identity politics if they are trying to create a an "Us" Vs "Them" divide on a totalitarian basis.

I think there is a disservice in conversation if we do not keep in mind that ethnic groups were & are, more often than not, coerced into assimilating to dominant culture here in the States. One of the crucial points to remember is not only that there were multiple ethnic groups fleeing Europe for centuries - escaping war & famine by *immigrating* to the US - but also they assimilated to the dominant culture here & thus became White (whether cultural or nationally is arguable). Perhaps now is the time to analyze that which European descendants lost in conformity - and what was gained in either cultural exchange and cultural appropriation (especially the latter) - in order to understand why so many other peoples fight so hard to maintain their cultures. Aaaaaaand that Dr. King quote is reaching. That's not the only speech he gave & a significant amount of his talks were about identity in some form or another; 'Stop fucking lynching & redlining & socially/politically/economically murdering & raping me & my people, my family.' What do you think?

There's a political party called the alternative right more commonly known as the alt right. That's what he was referring to. The alt right does not share the same beliefs as Republicans/Conservatives in the right of the political Spectrum. Alternative means completely opposite so they are basically left. The alt right are Democrats. They are white nationalists and KKK members and as we all know who started the KKK the Democratic Party.

I actually liked the video until its authors equated African Americans protesting for reparations to white people protesting for a Christian America. Reparations were first and foremost promised to slaves upon emancipation and was never fulfilled (40 acres and a mule) and in contrast the very fabric of our American foundation was that of freedom (albeit to white men). Freedom of religion is constitutional (no matter what its authors didn’t consider) and hence isn’t a reason for protest. Reparations on the other hand is and should continue to be debated. Please do not conflate the two or draw false equivalence.
