What are CAPACITORS AND CAPACITANCE? // Electronics Engineering for Beginners

What are capacitors and capacitance? Join me in this electronics engineering for beginners lesson discovering what capacitors are, why we need them, how they work, and the different type. Capacitors are made when two conductive materials come close to one another. Then these two materials are separated by a material called a dielectric. We can even make our own capacitor with aluminum foil and paper! Capacitors are one of the most important components in our circuit. They provide an energy buffer for integrated circuits, filter analog signals, and provide a large current at a moments notice. There are many different types of capacitors: ceramic, film, and electrolytic. But be careful of the polarity on the electrolytic capacitors or else they might explode. Capacitors also have a voltage rating, which you should not exceed.
