It'd be nice to see an "Interview 2016" by Death Grips drum production video, I'd love to know how to make drums like that

They released all the stems to ex military to the public for free. You can discover how brilliantly simplistic their production is if you download/listen to those instrumentals.

thanks for reminding me! I forgot to mention it in the video as well.

PS: it's not just exmilitary. Although most or all of them are no longer up on their site, instrumentals for the following albums can still be found on the internet: the money store, no love deep web, bottomless pit, and year of the snitch. And those are ones I know of. And I'm pretty sure they're all legit, like DG released them at some point. The YOTS one is still up on KZread.

@@willmael7914 woah rad! DG should press up some instrumental LPs.
That stereo idea is fascinating, the difference it makes is wild. Ill definitely be thinking about this in the future haha cheers bruh

Yeah it’s crazy to me. They absolutely do not care about the typical bass in mono advice. They love the out of phase shit that happens! Looking forward to hearing what you do with this technique!
Yess I love this. I've been thinking this for years, whenever my buddies say there's "so much going on" in their music I get what they're saying but I can hear that there's usually like... 4 sounds actually happening at a time max.

Great video, Ken! Extra points for making what's-his-name Needledrop look silly. When I listened to Death Grips and a while ago wondered if the tracks are mono duped and then mixed stereo. In other words, you'd get the same effect, but a wider stereo separation, plus you'd fill out the track sound a little. You did this whole video on this subject that I have often wondered about. Thank you! I agree with that Sophie poster that there seems to be screwed up granular stuff going on too. Speaking of Math Rock (and rock shouldn't be included in that description as EVERYONE does, because there are some KPOP tunes with weirdo timed stuff going on too) ever listen to Don Cabellero? Crazy stuff. I used to work for a huge pizza chain here in the US, the one with a game piece as its logo. I drove their tractor trailers delivering to stores and most of the routes were done with two people. I used to drive my co-workers crazy because I would record mix-tapes (the trucks only had cassette players) of stuff like Don Cabellero, Stephen Reich, Lucia Pamela (look her up!), really, really weird stuff, and listen to my music while I drove back to the shop and my co-workers would TRY to sleep in the bunk. Hahahaha.. I'm such an a**hole.
