Something to consider Zac, if it interests you; Trainee train driver role. Lots of Companies take on trainees and train them up to fully qualified mainline drivers. I did it myself many years ago with no railway background. I was a HGV tanker driver, applied with a freight company and never looked back. You seem to have the right attitude and a great work ethic which would work in your favour. It's very competitive application process but if you succeed it's worth it.

Yes i agree, my mate does it and he's on very good money , and not being funny but there are a lot of demands for time on amazon drivers with pressure , not saying theres not on train driving but once you learn it, apparently its a good number to have

@michaelrawlinson8541 just keep looking on all Freight operator companies (FOC's) and all Train operator companies (TOC's) ( passenger) . If your unsure of companies then google them. But you must be within 60min commute of a company. If your not, your application will be thrown out. Keep an eye on these companies, and they will advertise for trainee drivers at whichever depots they require. Apply and follow the process. It's extremely long, sometimes years, but you have to be in it to win it and if your successfully, you can have a rewarding career both financially and in terms of work life balance. Good luck

If the job was like thaf every day i would do it

My easiest route was yesterday, had 68 stops in my home area.

Do they still have the mandatory break section in the app and the other app that monitors your driving and gives you a score? When I left about 2 and a half years ago they’d just introduced them both and dsp was always making sure every one had all there’s breaks so they could get the metrics.

Mine pays £140+vat and I generally make an extra £5-10 on the fuel so it ends up around £158/day. I own my van so no rental but you do have to set aside money for insurance and maintenance. That is for a small van route, large van routes get £165+vat.

@@Jr-cs5ykthat was an unusually light route. Most standard parcel residential routes are between 160-190 stops. Including depot pick up you rarely do less than 8 hours.

Back of the van looks chaos. How do you find the parcels as you are going round? Is it loaded in some sort of order?

get yaself your hgv licence and do nights on agency 140-160 per shift average easy as anything

Really? I seen videos of HGV drives in the UK and it seems quite hard the kind of roads they send those guys on literally are barely narrow enough for a car let alone a huge HGV otherwise I was also thinking of getting into HGV lessons but that just put me off watching them struggle to reverse out of spots and finding hard to deliver locations in narrow roads, but all these videos were multi drop morning ones maybe the night shifts are the long distance motorway ones that’s what I hoped it would be

@@RoaminRob they’re easy after a few weeks, I do around 25-30 stops an hour, a route with like 170 stops usually takes me till 6:30-7pm from 11:10am
