Mariella is an excellent addition.

In the U.K., the pub is the hub of socialising and drinking alcohol is considered as a rite of passage. In the Mediterranean, life does not revolve around alcohol and many young people will sit quite happily drinking the wide variety of coffees and juices available. Wine is part of the culture and does not hold any special significance and the climate is way too hot to drink spirits anyway. The whole attitude towards alcohol is very different and there is no real stigma attached to abstinence, thank goodness.

I had my first drink at 10 at home it was a Bucksfizz at Christmas, first drank in a pub at 16 and got served from 17 onwards

Mariella looks more amazing today than she ever has!

Our family always let the kids have a weak glass of snowball, port and lemon, during the 60s and 70s. But when I got to about 11 or 12, I had Babycham neat! 🥰

Glad they have added someone intelligent to the panel.

Nonsense and totally irresponsible. If you don’t let your kids drink till 18 you’re a bad parent. Drinking wine should be part of meal times and not seen as a big deal. You’re going to bring up someone who will go off the rails.

No no no. You must be strict and set boundaries regardless of the predictable rebellion. When the rebellion passes as it surely will and your kids grow up, they’ll be asking themselves why was mum and dad not strict with me? Did they not really love me; I’m talking real love here? It’s hard and tough but the inky way.

In the USA the law is not until 21 yo.
