Greg Oden isn't a bust, he just didn't get the chance to prove himself. He will remain as one of the biggest what ifs in nba history

Thank you. He's been too hard on himself, especially considering it's a situation out of his control. He's also been good in the little time he's spent on the court. If you want true worst bust in history, look no further than Anthony Bennett.

Greg Oden will always be one of the greatest What Ifs in league history. So much potential that his body just couldn’t handle at the highest level

That’s why it’s difficult to really give him the bust label as his career basically ended before it even began. I could only imagine that if he had stayed healthy he could’ve had a solid window at least until 2013 but if the league still transitioned into a three pointer league and Oden hadn’t developed a jump shot he slowly would’ve faded away.

Say whatever you want, Greg Oden will never eclipse Anthony Bennett as a draft bust by a mile. UNLV's 'Tony B' was as healthy as a healthy as a horse 🐎 and scored 0 points in his first five games. Oden's first fove games looked relatively solid 🪨

Greg Oden had hope and showed flashes of greatness here and there. His body failed him-repeatedly-at the worst of times, effectively dooming his career. Bennett showcased no such potential, and Cleveland immediately became a laughingstock for picking him FIRST. OVERALL. Never mind selecting pretty much the biggest bust in NBA history over a HoFer and a 3x DPOY...hell, even the guy drafted right after him went on to become an All-Star (poor Vic...injuries really are career killers)

Oden was seen as a future star, Bennett was top pick in a weak draft class and most didn't expect him to be nom1

Using Oden's struggles with mental health and alcoholism to segway into an ad for a service that has been widely scrutinized for not providing the service it claims to is tone deaf at best.

Man I’m just happy that Greg Oden is doing well for himself and was able to still succeed outside of the NBA. He now is finally successful while helping out younger players coaching them up all while taking care of his family. To those who talk down on Oden calling him nothing but a bust of a bust means doing financially well while taking care of his wife and kids

It was heartbreaking what happened to Oden. He had so much incredible potential.
I knew that anxiety talk was a better help ad 😭😭😭
Imagine if Kevin Durant was drafted by the Blazers instead of SuperSonics
I remember seeing that one video where Oden was asked by an old lady if he plays pro basketball, he said I used to. Then walked away with his face looking sad. Gotta feel bad for his injuries

Being a Wisconsin fan I was a big Alando Tucker fan.
Javaris’s story is just sad. He came from a city where gang violence are a norm, and despite his intelligence, his quick temper was the reason why him and Gilbert Arenas argue and pulls out guns in the locker room after losing thousands on a card game. And after his games overseas, he was suspended permanently. After that, it was downhill from Crittenton. His family shunned him, his friends never speak to him, and he was all alone. That is until he joined a gang that seals his fate forever. After losing to a friend on a drive-by shooting, he swore to avenge him against the gang rival. At night, he spotted a teenager who robbed him earlier. He pulls out a gun, but miscalculated the shot, hitting a pedestrian, Julian Jones instead, killing her. He was caught after that, and was sentenced to 23 years in prison.
Much respect to you for using your platform to open up about mental health. Glad you were able to get the help you needed, friend.
Could’ve also highlighted some events of 2007 (eg. The iPhone was first released, Britney Spears famously shaving her head, the first Transformers movie was released)

With the thumbnail basically everyone except Greg had a decent career.
No matter what professional sport teams you get drafted to or you're a veteran player on that franchise team. It takes a lot of work to make a name for yourself to be a great player and become a legend one day. Not everyone gets a chance to make it to the NBA Finals, but I know it is worth it when you get your first or how many rings in the NBA. Everyone faces adversity but how you pick up yourself if up to you.
Thanks!

Oden isn't a BUST. Real hoopers know he's not a BUST
For me the "bust" label should be reserved for guys like Bennett, who were healthy, but just couldn't fulfill the expectations.

Colin couldn’t been 185
Oden I wouldn’t consider a bust, injury was his issue not talent and skill healthy he would of been an all star center and probably have a defensive player of the year and would lead the nba in rebounding and blocks multiple times. Healthy he was 18 ppg 12rpg 2apg 2.5 blocks on like 60% shooting.
I could really sleep with this guy's voice. So drowsy inducing❤
It’s kind of sad how much KD has become underrated. I remember lebron at 35 was getting all the praise in the world for playing at an elite level. KD has been doing it also. Along side having major leg injuries with Achilles and the Jones fracture. Playing great defense as well. I know he’s known as a great scorer but he pissed everyone off in 2016 and hasn’t been talked about like he used to

It’s crazy you said the last #1 pick prior to Greg oden to miss their first season was David Robinson, and that wasn’t even due to injury …nowadays since oden it seems like it happens every other year (Blake griffin, Embiid, Simmons, Markelle fultz & Zion kinda …Chet Holmgreen, who wasn’t drafted #1 but close enough)

lol I thought i was tweaking when I saw u got 27k subs

I don't reqlly like calling guys that had injury issues busts. It's completely out of their control and doesn't seem fair since they got hoed by their own body.
Life is short and hard. I like your videos. Everyone struggles in life, and it is not easy at first, but it gets better with time and healing. Everyone deals with depression and anxiety in different ways. Some are a lot worse than others. God bless you and your family and friends too. Everyone needs help but sometimes we don't ask for help because we think we can take care of it on our own, but reality is we can't. Don't be afraid to ask for help before it is too late. Enjoy being with you family and friends and be the best version of yourself every day.
