The Dolphins perfect season was 1972 and their Superbowl victory over the Redskins was in 1973. The following year they beat the Vikings which was their last Superbowl win.

Highest winning percentage out of all nfl teams even accounting for pre-merger teams like the Packers, the only team to have 20 straight years of playoff appearances (1966-1985), most consecutive sold out performances of any team (190 and counting). Those sold out performances are not due to “bandwagon” fans.

Highest regular season winning % in the history of the NFL (57%), most consecutive winning seasons (20), 1966-1985, largest fan base (nearly 9 million), they have the record for the most seasons winning at least 10 games. They consistently have the highest merchandise sales of any other NFL team. In short, as is the case in any sport, a team that has the most consistency in winning is bound to be the most popular. In spite of their disastrous loss this weekend, I’ve no doubt Dallas will continue to be called America’s Team for the foreseeable future regardless of whether you agree with that monitor or not.

You're info on the Dolphins is wrong. You're correct that the last time they played in the Super Bowl was January 1974, but that was not their undefeated season; that was the 1972-1973 season. In 1973-1974, they went 12-2 in the regular season and beat the Vikings 24-7 in the Super Bowl.

Superbowl would make Lamar Case as a the greatest running QB of all time, that much bigger in gap size for whoever is the second best

Chiefs fan here (I know, I know...) but if it's not the Chiefs, it would be a great storyline for both Harbaugh brothers to win championships within weeks of each other. Alternatively, I would be interested if it was a Lions v Texans Superbowl. There's a part of me that says if my team doesn't make it, I want to see two teams that have never been to a Superbowl before, and that's the only remaining matchup that fits.
