My takeaway and reason for buying this guy is because we have not had a decent Megatron robot mode (not counting Beast Wars figures) in a VERY long time. I hated the Siege mold so much and that’s all they want to use. I am buying these Studio Series guys for their robot modes mainly. I get they didn’t have an alt mode in mind when making this guy. Was more of an afterthought. I guess I’ll wait to see it in hand.

This SS Megatron has more articulation and molded detail than both Legacy/Kingdom Galvatron and Legacy Armada Megatron. I know it's disappointing we only get big figures in Master Piece and Titan class, but I refuse to consider SS Megs inferior to the other two leaders JUST because he's a little smaller.

But, we're talking about *Megatron* though. So as rare as Cosmos is seen in clearance stores, I bet it's going to be much rare to find a high quality Megatron in those stores.

Finally someone who doesn’t sugar coat it it’s just the BBM soundwave all over again except the key difference is that in robot mode soundwave has cool features that imo makes up for the bad alt mode but this is basically just a action figure because the only thing going for it imo is the robot mode and possibility there are no features like on Soundwave that make you come back to it and maybe eject ravage or rumble

What most forget that Transformers is more then just the robit mode. It's a 3 in 1 toy. A vehicle/object/or beast, a puzzle, and an action figure. By focusing on 1 feature you completely lose out on the whole experience.

Yeah, they've gone up a little, but have maintained the same standards. For the figures that made the 10$ increase in MOTU they threw in a lot more accessories. In terms of value for $ I think Mattel and McFarlane destroy Hasbros toys at retail. Hasbro has massively increased its prices, and a lot of people feel the quality and value have gone down. I'm one of those people I left collecting the Mainline and won't be back. It doesn't mean I want it to fail, or I think I'm right and you're wrong. If you still like what they're giving you I hope they keep delivering for you.

I mean he could’ve been a hover tank, but they gave him treads. He could’ve also been a “flying tank”, like Revenge of the Fallen Megatron…but they gave him a jet mode. I can’t believe the designers were free to design the tank anyway they wanted, but buyers will now have to invest in 3rd party wheels for their leader/voyager-class figure.🤔

Although I don't care much about scaling, I would've 100% preferred if they scrapped the floppy jet mode that we see in this review (I hope this is just an unfortunate factory error though it doesn't look like it). The budget for the jet mode would have been better spent on adding hidden working wheels to the tank mode and upscaling the overall figure. Releasing a terribly designed alt-mode that undoes itself is unfortunate because I initially was excited to see this Megatron on the Hasbro website. Now, not so much.

Great video, I honestly am not really a fan of megatron being anything other than his g1 version (gun). I understand we want get that so I stomach the tank version. The concept of him being a triple changer just doesn't make since to me. We all know that when it comes to triple changers there's always one mode that suffers greatly in the toy world on most of them. So this may be a hard pass for me. Thanks again for the video.

Well, Megatron was a Triple Changer in Cybertron, and they ramped it up even more for _Robots in Disguise_ 2001 by making him a _Six_ Changer.

@@chefatron Mine cost me $140, for what I got absolutely worth the price now stands alongside my LS-13 Star Knight Optimus Prime and they look perfect next to each other. I will transform them I have owned a lot of TF masterpieces over the years but these 2 from 3rd party companies are just absolutely amazing in their robot forms.

Instead of a tank they could’ve made him turn into a canon kind of like galvatron it probably would’ve made it easier to come up with a better design for the jet mode. But ya I agree Hasbro has been marking up the prices way up and at the same time lowering the quality of the figures. But I guess that’s what happens to these companies that are owned by big walstreet firms like Blackrock. It’s all about maximizing profits year after year. If they can’t squeeze the labor anymore then they’ll pump out lower quality crap products for a higher price.

oh yeah completely agree with you bro! yeah, it's really sad... but that's what the world is now...

I really like the robot mode but the other modes are just sad, I will just stick with using MTCD-02 Rioter Despotron as my megatron for the movie verse

Chef, great review. You were way more objective than PrimevsPrime on this one. He gave flack to the alternate modes but he's still way too much of a Hasbro fanboy. I agree with you on how this is leader class, its bullshit. He's a glorified voyager class at best. The engineering is a crap justification tbh. There are voyager figures with the same amount of engineering that came out the last several years. The other thing that determines "class" is parts count is also bullshit here. He comes with one accessory. Leader primal came with two swords, a chain, an axe and the key. This guy is a voyager class. Anyone else unhappy with my opinion needs to get a reality check. However, I'm still excited to get this guy. Still waiting for the preorder to come in.

I wanted to say all those things but I'm sure a lot of loyal hasbro fans will hate me for being to critical of hasbro's products... thanks again brother, I appreciate you!

@@chefatron no worries man. Yeah I'm really excited to get this figure but there are issues for sure. In terms of cybertronian modes in mainline figures, they're always gonna be a mess no matter what. Here's hoping some upgrade kits come out for this guy that makes at least the jet mode look better.

The alt modes are even more tragic when you see how great they were originally going to be in concept art

In the case of the jet, you could mount the fusion cannon on top to make it more accurate to the concept art

Lemme see...: 1. It's odd that they used the G1 style Decepticon symbol instead of the modified Rhombus Eyes Big Chin Dragon of a Decepticon symbol that's specifically for the Movie stuff. (Though I guess this is a Fullmetal Alchemist style equivalent exchange for the Siege Seekers havin' the Movie version instead of the G1 version) 2. The "classes" haven't been referring to size since Power of the Primes; from Siege onward, they've been nothing but about price points and allegedly parts count. It sucks, but what can you do? Doesn't help with price increases, either: that reissue of Titans Return Fortress Maximus is now the current 200 USD for what was a 160 USD figure. 3. No wheels on them faux treads is inexcusable. Period. Many tanks have done better than this!! 4. Cybertronian tank, fine. But again, they've done better. TFP Shockwave, SS13/31 RotF Megatron, SS56 DotM Shockwave, the original DotM MechTech Shockwave, Generations Deluxe class WFC Megatron, etc. 5. And considering that he was a *JET* in 2007, they should've went all-in, balls to the walls for JET MODE. Would've been a more natural progression from TFB/BBM/wtfever the acronym for Bumblebee is to 2007, much like how at the end of Bumblebee, ol' Bee-meister goes from his 67 VW Beetle mode to the 76 Camaro that we'll wind up seeing (albeit all rusted out) at the start of 2007.

yes good point yes, but do we really have to put up with it? shouldn't we demand more from hasbro? especially since it's the fans that really made their executives rich? I agree. and I refuse to accept the "lack of budget" excuse since this is a leader class price point perhaps well, given that the BEE movie is a reboot, even if they won't admit it... Megatron doesn't have to be a jet

It’s a must buy for me but I wish bay would have gave us a Megatron that looked like this one instead of the unrecognizable robotic monster looking Megatron we ended up with not that it was a bad design neither but I wouldn’t have known that it was Megatron unlike this one I can instantly recognize that as Megatron

Seeing how trash this designs alt modes are I’m thankful we got the bayverse megatron designs good robot modes and vehicle modes is how it’s done

The figure especially the head sculpt looks like absolute crap compared to Monocrats take which I have the second release. I ordered the figure to pair with the rest of the figures I have but for only that reason. The alt modes are absolutely terrible. He is also not big enough compared to their BBM Prime. They base their classes on parts count not size also. Also they are not the only ones, look at Mattel their motu prices have gone up consistantly. Also Neca has gotten increasingly more expensive as well.

agree to disagree man well the robot mode is perhaps the best movie verse Megatron we've had in a long while so I can imagine the hype on this figure...

We wouldnt even had the half of paint, articulation and sculpted if this was a voyager. We should stop seen this categories only focused on the size and more on the budget. I can asure you that if this thing was a voyager the silver would just be gray hasbro plastic, no individually articulated fingers, a simpler sculp and no butterfly joints.

They should have went with tank or jet mode. I will leave my copy in robot mode and likely never transform him. The reason why Hasbro is able to continue to get away with the stuff they do is because people won't hold them accountable. We have the ability to vote with our wallets.

I stopped buying these new Transformers and I watch and support you in hopes that at some point I might be willing to hand over money for a well deserved figure and then I ask myself do I need another Prime or Bee but I have to have all Soundwave even that cheap 10 maked me Holla toy. Medatron a triple changer well why not a Prime Triple changer if your gonna do Megs that way. Right now I am buying old stuff that I have missed out on over the decades.

Bot mode looks good, but Hasbro ain't MMC, and these prices are a NO! I stopped collecting mainline and mainline adjacent figures. This toy is the perfect example of why... Alt modes are just plain trash! Seriously? It's a triple changer? I can't believe people are gushing over this POS... If this us Transformers in 2024 I'm glad I tapped out. This IS bad comedy!
