Auctions are great fun Tom, you did well not to catch Auction fever. I think the wives sending Henry was a clever plan. You should check he wasn't wearing a wire 😂
So nice to see your dad. He certainly hasn’t lost the pep in his step! Love hearing him talk about the tractors, what a great man he is. I love his ‘don’t tell mom’ comment, what a trooper! Great video Tom, enjoyed seeing you ‘boys’ out there having a day together. Henry is a sweetheart and fits right in. 😂🤣 Have a great rest of the week. ❤❤
Well if I'm ever going to buy a tractor, there is only one person I'm going to ask for advice, Tom's dad. He should be on mastermind with his amount of knowledge. 👍
Good to see dad out and about, loving his knowledge of the tractors.
Tom i have been a huge fan since you came to KZread i love your videos they are so helpful because i am a beef farmer in Ireland I farm 55 head of cattle

Im not a farmer, but I collected the Britains farm toys as a kid and still would love a classic Ford tractor for real! A farm near me still uses a 50s Massey MF35 around their yard, which is always a joy to watch..... those old work horses were built to last :)
Good one Tom, Henry is a star. Nice to see your dad out and about.
Very glad you put this video up. Henry is amazing as are all the people you met at the sale. Good to see dad looking so well. Take care. X😊
I'm glad you took Luke! It shows you don't treat him just like a regular worker and more like a part of the family 👍🏼
Nice to see Henry getting an early start on auctions !!
It's amazing how much used farm equipment goes for. Greetings from Alberta

Good morning farmers from afar.. I guess when your at the auction you got to watch your words.!!!!!
Keep up the good work Tom, night pop down to farm shop soon hopefully come meet you
Just brilliant video loved it
My grandfather was a mechanic for Massey Ferguson. I have a soft spot for those machines…. That old one is a beauty!!!
Tom, you need to carry a club to use to slow the ginger warrior down. I've had 3 ops on my back, last one 2013 with pins and rods. I'm sat here now on 2 different pain killers and Diazepam because of multiple issues and it ain't pleasant. The right recovery is so important as it sets the tone further down the line. A good chair for posture, no slouching ! No lifting, climbing, standing too long in one place, riding a tractor, pushing things and twisting. Saying that, keep moving with no prolonged periods sat down and definitely keep up the exercises. 6 weeks back to normal is too short, at least 8. Not trying to teach how to suck eggs....... but we don't want a broken one now do we.
Enjoyed watching your video.
Took a little liberty and shared this vid te mad about tractors. Love listen te ye dad rabbit on about tractors. Reminds me o people I grew up around. If not will happy te take it down
If you had turned the key to the left then it would of displayed the hours. I really hope you read this, we bought a brand new 4230 lp (low profile) so I know alot about them. We also have had many other case tractors. My point is, the 42 series we in my opinion the worst by a mile. You would be very disappointed and it probably wouldn't even compare to your old 100 hurliman. My advice is that you get what you pay for. The 42 series case's haven't got a big following or that 4240 at the sale would have made more. I would either go for an 856xl or a cx 90 or 100 because they were all much more capable tractors
@skipmole612
3 ай бұрын
Glad you commented as such. I've always felt the 42 series were, 'nowt flash'.
So, this would be to "update" the 885 loader tractor so you could possibly have 3 field tractors? The Case, the smaller Hurliman and this update? Oh, please bring on the drier weather, I can't wait to see those field videos. And well done keep your father under control when he was trying to jumble around like he hasn't a care.
As an American i can say I AM SO JEALOUS OF THE AMOUNT OF NICE CLEAN FORD TRACTORS YOU GUYS HAVE ACROSS THE POND!!!
You would have been disappointed with a 4240 or any case in that range they were a step down in reliability compared to the earlier models or the models that came after them. The man giving you advice at the auction was very right
My dad has a county 944, only one I’ve ever seen and it’s one of my favourite tractors ever. Wouldn’t change it for anything
Some great characters in the video today Tom. Enjoyed it.
Excellent video thanks
This was a Fantastic video!!!
great video Tom😊
It's a good thing your dad didn't go alone Tom or he would be climbing in tractors left and right!
great to see you and your Dad on bangers and cash with the BMC Mini tractor, I thought it looked like your farm
I liked having a little look at the tractors

We have 3 similar machines. An 885, a 4240 and a 4220. All done us very well and very similar mechanically. 4220 has a different engine block, but same backend. They're all getting very tired now, but we're juddling them around. But the gear linkages are fairly awful, especially now they're worn
Ach, it was a good day out nevertheless. I fancied the Muir Hill 121 - we had a 161 back in the day. My fave tractor of all time.
Enjoyed that. Who dosnt love an auction. Tractor prices are mental now.
I love the English countryside its so elegant except for stone picking im from Douro Ontario Canada 🇨🇦 originally stone picking is the worst hay is fun done the right way bale in the day and unload after supper my father Carl has a 1948 8n Ford fully restored almost lower left unpainted the old paint is great so my dad can rake hay with it
Great video 😍
Awesome video. Henry is so cute.
Good luck Tom trying to govern the ginger warrior when he wants to go scampering ❤ You're doing the right thing but oi! You've signed up for rough ride😂🤣😅
Morning Tom. You gotta roll that dice

Tom sure wasn't it great to have the day out,I'm a ford 7000 fan,but all I'll be ever doing is admiring it 😢
Great video Tom it sounded like everything sold quite strongly good for the seller and not the buyer 👏👏👍👍
Some serious money spent there Tom, glad to see you didn't succumb to the auction fever. You should look at a recent video from Joe in Yorkshire. He had a walk round an auction site near York that was simply "Maahhooosive" And they had some Sheer grabs. 😉. PS: I hope the Warrior behaved himself on holiday and is continuing to convalesce well. 🤞👍.
Thank God father is doing well 😊
I bought that 3680 blind online from cheffins nice to see it featured on your vid aha
I dont know how you van take your father anywhere without him trying to climb into every tractor lol
DT 268, it's a 4.4 four cylinder with around 100+ hp, a long stroke of 140 mm to a 100mm bore, basically a 4 cylinder case 1455, loads of low down torque with hanging power, wonderful motor
@ford8630power

Those english made 4200's arent the best tho
Articulated Massey and TW Ford are dream machines.
You should get a case International 956 XL tractor instead of a smaller tractor
That little 1700 is a nice one. My brother has a 1910 4 wheel drive. 😂 It's ace
What a sensible upgrade.
Hey mate, ask your Dad what he thinks of the Massey Ferguson 178 2wd, just picked one up and I'm in love! Needs a LOT of cosmetic work!
On those generations of case IH you have to turn the key back to get the hours 😉
Good video i remember selling 4240s etc when they were new and to be honest we had alot of warranty claims with them between clutch failure and poor electrics the backend is more or less the same as a 674 but with 95hp under the bonnet the backend was fit for purpose plus i thought the gear change was horrendous compared to an 885
@FarmersSss

Worst tractor that case ever made!
Always wanted a Massey 35 haha. Unlucky with the Case though mate! About the JDs at the end, not so keen on the new JD models but the older shapes like the 6920/7530 are wicked 😎.
Turn the key anti clockwise for the hours
It's a pity the 4240 didn't fall into your budget range. I assume the "slightly older" backup plan tractor is not the PRO model? The PRO was only available in the final year of production. The PRO models have a host of really really nice features that the previous models didn't have, and they were generally all round better tractors. Also the PRO had slightly more power and torque. We had a 1998 model 4240XL PRO, a real pocket rocket tractor - it never missed a beat in 15 years. The XL cab is much more desirable than the 'glass house' LP cab. The transmission would not be ideal for lots of road work, but for around the yard it would be prefect for your operation.
Great video. That County 1004 would be sweet. I’m a big blue fan. Problem is, it’s so clean, would you want to use it hard?

Hi tom you need to turn the key backwards on the 4240 to show the hours👍
It’s good to see the ginger guy up and about
7:37 Not bad Case IH 4240 with hydraulics total flow rate 60.9 lpm and a optional to up it to 69.6 lpm.
I love how you buried the news about the shear grab amongst the excitement of going to the sale! Sad that you could not get the Case but with so many collectors there prices were always going to be high. All the tractors looked to be in amazing condition.

Everyone loves a Case
Lol! Never in a month of Sundays was that 42 gonna sell for 10k! The 15 and a half what the hammer dropped at was probably fair price for it. The gear linkage on them does have a bad rep but are ok if well maintained or certainly not any worse than an XL cabbed 885.
Tom you can't keep an old man down😂😂😂
That's excellent 😂
A brilliant video fantastic to see all the oldskool tractors 🚜👏👏👏😊
Ginger guy is really channelling his inner second hand tractor salesman here, eh. 😊
Your dad is great….
I was thinking that was Jim fisher from classic tractor alright when you were talking to him before he said it 😅
Dad won’t be around forever sometimes you go over budget to put a smile on a loved one’s face. I wish my father was still here he got sick and passed in less then a month 3 days after finding out he had a rare liver cancer. I am thinkfull he didn’t suffer for years. But I do miss him. And $15,500 I would gladly pay to make him happy even today. Not saying you did it wrong just my opinion of what I would have done. I would have scraped saved and sold anything that make it happen and make him happy as a pig in slop. Speaking about pigs instead of getting your own for the farm to raise for the shop be fair warned they destroy land best to keep them inside in a pen if you do. They dig worse than any dog ever. Root up every spec of anything growing to eat the roots.
Sorry Tom but I have to agree with Mr Right. If you can only afford one or t'other, it has to be a loader tractor. I know that Merlo have a telehandler now with linkage and pto but I'll be dead before one of them gets into my price range 🤣🤣🤣
Dad's looking well, even if he is stubborn.
I figure the wheel base to be around 100” or so and the case 4240 is 88.7 so it’s not much bigger. Hell you could probably sell the loader to bring the price down some more if you didn’t need it. Oh and only 2.67 meters tall. Under 9’ tall it’s a muscly beast of a shrimp.
Hi tom I run to older John Deere and the are collector items , but replacing it not a possible options as everything you buy is so expensive 😮
You Should have left the bidding to young Henry 😂😂. Was never going to be any cheap tractors at a classic tractor sail like that, don’t think many will be going out to work
Your dad is just full of history knowledge and old tractor knowledge anyone else notice 😂
