Right on! Thanks for being part of the ODTRP platform
We still have our 2014 Trail Edition 4Runner. 158,000 on it in 2023.
You always make good points/observations that many others don’t mention or cover. Thanks and keep it up!

I just got a new 2023 4Runner ORP. I love its simplicity and "old" tech which is proven and very reliable.

Right on Teddy👍😎
Your right..Ive owned my 4runner sr5 for 3 years. I check on resale occasionally and I roughly calculated that Ive paid about 100 to 150.00 a.month to own it. Any other car would have been 300.00 to 500.00 a month in loss depending on make and model.( actually I paid so little for it initially that not counting taxes I can get nearly all my money back..this is unheard of)

We agree 110 percent. Most do not look at total ownership cost and factor in opportunity cost. It is not about just fuel economy. Lexus just launched the 550, and it only gets 1 mpg better than the GX460. When you load up the 550, and load up a GX460, the GX 460 will still get better MPG. What a joke.
Going to be purchasing a 5th gen, and I'm using the same logic for the high mpg. The fuel mileage may be higher then what I would like, it to be but at least the vehicle is dependable!

Got the TRD premium last May, don’t quite have 3K miles on it yet, but I really really like it. It rides better than a bmw x5!!! Plan on having this suv a long long time!

Hi Christopher congratulations 🎉🍾🎊 and you will have it for a long, it’s a 4 Runner
I think it is best to buy two of the 5th gen. So I did...
Enjoy your perspective and insight, great videos! I'm actually considering a 2023 TRDORP, hesitant to pull the trigger since I'd have to trade in my 2021 F150 Lariat FX4. Have even tried to convince my wife to consider letting go of her Honda Accord... Granted - quite a few recalls as of late on the 14-gen F150s and thankful thus far the most recent impacting around 850k F150s (2020-2023) has not yet been related to my VIN. Based on your automotive experience (I have a good friend in Dearborn), can I assume a significant degree of maintenance challenges once I'm outside the 36-month mark? If the recalls etc are tall-telling, it would seem as though some tough years may lie ahead. I will say that I had traded my 2013 F150 XLT for the current truck I own, and that truck gave me some issues (mosquito bites if you will) but nothing significant (had about 115k miles). We had a 2008 Camry (XLE V6) that lasted 12 yrs before we started having some sig component issues. Growing up my parents had a Corolla wagon with over 400k in mileage before they decided to let it go. I could go on... Thanks again for your insights! R/Roni
I really enjoy and appreciate your take on the 4RUNNER. What is your opinion about the 4RUNNER reputation of the underbody rusting.? Oh, by the way I'm a 4RUNNER owner. I just purchased the TRDORP myself and I love it and I also live in Michigan

Hello Monteroc across owning four 4Runners never an underside rust issue. We just had 6 cans of fluid flem arrive and I am planning on spraying underneath our 4Runner and GX460. We had black fluid flem arrive via Amazon, make sure you order clear fyi. We also use Mr. Cs car wash that always give a great underside wash. Very awesome your in Michigan as well. Appreciate your comments Best ODTRP

Great information 😊 ! I just traded in my 2016 Ford F150 V8 truck for a 2024 Toyota 4RUNNER , I am the type of person who keeps his vehicle for the long haul , lol I am not a millionaire who can afford a vehicle every 5 years .

I bought my 2015 5th gen new and now has 170k miles on it. Only recall has been the Takata airbag. Still love it and was planning to keep it another 5 or so years but now I’m considering a 2023 or 2024 before they update them.

Call Craig Everts at Fox Toyota tell him we sent you. He has 7 ORP 4Runners inbound including one in that lime green color. We were impressed with the improvements in our 22 over our 19 4Runner including lower insurance thanks to Toyota Safety Sense. Terry
Love my 2017 4runner, I live in a major snow belt region, so I under coat my vehicle yearly.
@OnDownTheRoadProductions

Hello Bruce, seriously yearly? Once should be enough right? Michigan is heavy snow and ice too, we have not undercounted every thing is perfect no rust after two years. We under spray the trucks twice a month during the winters, and avoid freshly salted roads often. The sheet metal on the 4Runner is very high quality. Best, ODTRP
Make a video on what you should do when you purchase a 4Runner…(undercoat if you’re living in snowy areas…etc….) What kind of oil should you use to make it last longer?
@OnDownTheRoadProductions
Жыл бұрын
Great idea coming soon. As long as there is an oil change every 5000 miles owners should be good
Hopefully the 2024 has an extra accessory or two for the last model year of the 5th gen.

@@OnDownTheRoadProductions That would be great. I would have a hard time choosing between lunar rock and cavalry blue. I’m waiting to see what the new Land Cruiser looks like. I might take a chance on the new technology. Worst case scenario I’ll order a ‘24 4R.
The only issue is that the tailgate is manual and it really heavy to open and close, not sure why they didn't add a power close feature like they did on the previous gen sequoia
@OnDownTheRoadProductions

They do offer a power lift gate accessory for the 4 Runner on the secondary market. Our tail gate we have no issues

Because they break and are expensive to repair. This is an off-road vehicle not a Walmart grocery getter. I went through two electronic on my Highlander. Fist time wa under warranty and the second time it was $2800. No thank you!!!

@@av8ferg237 At the 50k price point it should have it at least on the “Limited” trim, that signifies luxury features. Even the new GX is finally getting one after that horrible barn door

Nah the real problem is when it won’t work anymore with that big tailgate. grandma has one and it has a power window in the rear to open. People can’t think anymore huh? I rather have the window down than the slow door. Its a UTILITY VEHICLE. You really can’t have both.
@BigAltimaEnergy719

@@Anomize23 Yea that tailgate motor its not gonna break until like 8-10 years later I've only seen several year old Toyotas having issues with power tailgates, it's not a big deal unless u wanna replace it with high cost. I do have to agree with you all these electronics make people lazy from doing stuff as well.
why did you trade the 4runner for a Gx

As long as its built in Japan you should be good.
