What 1st Overall Mechanics and Confidence Looks Like

Спорт

Understanding this NHL pattern from 1st overall draft picks Connor McDavid and Alexis Lafreniere is game breaking. The similarities in this goal are broken down mechanic by mechanic as we aim to simplify this mechanics stacks of these respective 1st overall draft picks. In this video, we're examining this pattern found in two remarkable goals by Alexis Lafreniere and Connor McDavid.
Today, we're analyzing how Lafreniere’s confidence is allowing him to showcase elite mechanics similar to McDavid’s. We’ll break down their setup, the mechanic stack, and discuss the challenges and learning process involved.
Both players start with a wide stance, puck on their forehand, and execute what we call a "Kane drag" instead of a traditional toe drag. This technique reduces the risk of losing the puck while maintaining the same movement. By stepping onto the outside edge of their right foot and pulling the puck in tight, they can skillfully maneuver it just behind the defender’s feet.
Watch as we break down these mechanics and learn how to apply them to your game. Notice the small differences, like Lafreniere’s potential to get more comfortable on his outside edge, and understand the importance of studying these anomalies.
Thanks for watching, and stay tuned for more insightful analyses!

I have a quick question about stickhandling. I do a lot of practice sessions on stickhandling off-ice, but now it's not too difficult and I kind of plateaued, do you have any advice on how to make stickhandling drills harder aside from keeping your head up or increasing the reps?
