As a European (Norwegian), it seems so absurd to me that the tax isn’t included in the prices listed... that must make shopping for anything a little nerve-inducing if your budget is tight? I guess I just can’t imagine not knowing exactly the price of an item by just looking at the tag😦

Sales tax is different in every state but for mine it is 7% sales tax... That is only for items like clothing, makeup, toys, ect., So if the item is $6 it would be $6.42... But for food there is no sales tax so if the item is $3 then it is just $3, which makes it easier while food shopping... Unless it is fast food and then there is tax! I know you didn't ask about it but I just figured I could give you some information about it!! Side note... It sometimes does make shopping more complicated, but it's 10 times more complicated when you are on a tight budget!

Former F21 employee here - you're correct on the extra $0.90 being added to give the impression of a lower price [3:51]. The reason it's a flat $0.90 added (instead of $0.99 like other companies) is because prices ending in ".99" are reserved for items in the clearance section. That way, you can easily tell if a tagless item is on clearance when you look up its SKU number in the point of sale system. Kind of weird! Thought I'd share, though.

Inexpensive stores that have good style •American eagle outfitters ( clearance and sale rack are great places to start) •target- honestly best place to get trendy fashion staples (jeans, shorts, tees, ripped jeans, etc) •F21- one of my fav places to go for more risqué clothes for less formal events/ summer days •Jcrew- this store is more on the expensive side, but has so many sales and discounts it doesn’t end up that way I’ll keep updating 💗

You've had a lot of great video concepts lately! If I had $100 to spend on clothes at Old Navy I could easily walk away with 12-15 items shopping in their clearance section. I've found sweatshirts for $8, dresses for $9, work pixie pants for $10 and once a pair of jeans for 99 cents.

I think a good video idea would be to shop at 5 to 10 stores for the same item at each store and compare the quality. So like a basic white tee at 5 different stores, etc. Hunting for the perfect ___😊

I watched “True Cost” documentary on Netflix, and I would recommend it. All of those cheap stores are the cause of intense suffering in 3rd world countries, and contribute massively to pollution.

The .90 cents at forever 21 is a psychological thing. It’s because it makes you think it’s cheaper. So they price their clothes at $14.90 instead of $15 because the average person says “it’s only $14”

Ohh that’s so weird, because I remember when I worked at American Eagle, there were two different numbers clothes could end in, I can’t quite remember what they are since it’s been a few years since I worked there. But one was for regular priced items, one of for clearance. So I assumed it was the same for Forever 21.

@@Petitfleur_ That's true: clearance items at F21 end in .99 while regular priced items end in .90. For some reason, at Victoria's Secret most items are regularly priced at .50 (i.e., $39.50) & clearance ends in .99. At Gap, items that end in .97 are final sale & can't be returned.

I live in a pretty small place so we don't have a lot of the clothing stores that everyone else has but thank god we have Old Navy honestly.

I'm from Germany and it's so irritating with the taxes. When I'm buying stuff you only pay what is on the tag, because taxes are already included.

Completely agree!!! It extends to our restaurants, 13% taxes in the city.

I really like this concept but I feel like the execution wasn’t the best at showing how much you really could get for $100. It felt more like we were just watching you shop (which I totally enjoyed 🙂). The items purchased were too variable - stuff off clearance in one store, normal prices in another, picking up random small items just to fill the gaps, etc. I think it would be better if you went into it with a list of things you needed (or someone else) and see how much you could get in one store. That’s the goal so if you find something on the list you need and, of course, like and it happens to be on clearance, great! If not, you go with regular prices. This seems like a better measure of how much you can get for $100 in a store and you don’t have to scramble to fill the gap with things you would end up taking back anyway. I know my regular stores and their sales down to a ‘T’ so I can get well over 10 items for $100 if I play my cards right (Old Navy being one of them). You could also pick a standard outfit and purchase that at each store and compare the price of each one too.

I almost always shop at thrift stores so going to stores like forever 21 is a splurge for me lol

I loved this video, the only thing that made me a little sad was that she was almost defending what she was buying, when in reality compared to most beauty vloggers this was chump change and they never are apologetic for what they spend $1000's on. I appreciated her being humble it shows her character, just wish people could make videos with their own money without people questioning the motives, or moral tag along arguments.

Target clearance is splurging for me. I just got a cute tan flare high rise trousers for $7.20 and a cute of the shoulder tight black ruffle edges tee for $2.70! I'm a good will and Walmart girl lol

I recently went shopping at the thrift store and got: an American eagle sweater, brown Target riding boots, basic tees from Gap and Target, long sleeve top from O’Neil and a tank from Target... my total was $25 😆 I’ve also gotten a couple pairs of jeans from American Eagle for around $8 each at Goodwill before! they’re amazing!!

You deadass made me laugh when you said you also got the black old navy tee in two different colors😂😂a mood lmao

@@MaraLoeters Depends on the store: I know Gap, Macy's, Express & Victoria's Secret all give price adjustments within 10-14 days of purchase. I've taken advantage of it at every one of those stores: $10 here and $5 there adds up!
