I'm a bona fide Liswati and Manzini is my hometown. That's a true picture you presented there! Thanks Trudy and team. Keep up the good work! Next time visit the countryside and start with Ngculwini.
Hey Miss Trudy! Loved this vlog! I especially LOVE the black dress you're wearing and your braids as well! You showed us some really cool things about shopping & hanging out in the Kingdom of Eswatini! Thanks as always!
Eswatini together with Lesotho, Namibia and South Africa form part of the Common Monetary Area, CMA. It was established in 1974 as the Rand Monetary Area. The South African Rand is legal tender in all these countries but the other countries issue their own own currencies, the Lesotho loti, Namibian dollar and Swazi lilangeni. Foreign exchange regulations and monetary policies continues to reflect the influence of the South African Reserve Bank (Banginkulu ya Afrika-Dzonga) in this area.

Lol, I know SA is bigger economy, but still it's second largest economy after Nigeria...so I highly doubt statement is true given other large economies like Morocco, Egypt among others
@walkersmith9764
4 жыл бұрын
@@WorldIn360channel SA is actually larger outside of resource receipts (oil&gas). The Johannesburg Stock Exchange JSE is one of the 20 largest stock exchanges in the world. Nigeria has nowhere near as much capital as South Africa. The two countries aren't close in financial & capital development. People make a mistake thinking that the raw GDP calculation means that Nigeria has a real economy (as in involving the population) that is larger than SA, but it's largely Oil & gas receipts. Very little of Nigeria's revenue-generating economy involves the general population. Only 8% of Nigerians are *formally* employed. Also the fact that a country of 200 million has almost the same raw GDP as a country of only 58 million should kind of give it away. South Africa is a *much* richer country.
@WorldIn360channel
4 жыл бұрын
@@walkersmith9764 I agree that SA is somewhat relatively advanced in terms infrastructure development, while it's true that Nigeria economy is more dependent on Oil and gas, but never underestimate Nigeria in terms of its ingenuity in other sectors. Actually, being dependent on Oil & Gas is not necessarily a bad thing (i.e if utilization is properly done...and Nigeria has had its fair share of problems in this regard), countries in Middle East such as UAE, Qatar, Saudi Arabia literally utilized or use Oil & gas as an engine not only for economic growth but diversification onto other sectors. Also let's not forget that SA has a fair share of mineral resources as well (possibly largest in Africa...perhaps after DRC) that continues to fuel it's economic development/ or at-least has helped jump-start other sectors of its economy

Stock exchange and central is only in SA. So South Africa determines the monetary policy for Eswatini and Lesotho. I think Namibia too, maybe I'm wrong though
@walkersmith9764
4 жыл бұрын
You're right.Botswana, Namibia, Lesotho, Eswatini are in a Customs Union with South Africa since 1910, called SACU.(Southern African Customs Union) Fun Fact: It is the world's oldest existing customs union. The economies of these countries are so integrated that they are effectively one economy obviously centered on South Africa. The next step of a customs union is usually integration/federation. That was always the plan but after the 1950s because of Apartheid that was delayed and in the case of the South African SWA province (Namibia) actually led to independence. But with a legitimate government in place in Pretoria, recently the talk is back, with South Africa suggesting that since none of these countries have a population bigger than a large South African town, they ought to just put a system in place where if a person is born in SACU the local Home Affairs office should automatically send a copy of the birth certificate to Home Affairs in Pretoria which can easily handle the small footprint of these populations. This would, to quote former President Motlanthe, "start to give the economic Union the beginnings of a political expression as well." The area is also called the "Randzone" which is why you don't need to exchange your Rands when you are there.

Tami Nkambule you talking about sacu I’m talking about currencies. SACU is like what the US, Mexico and Canada have in NAFTA. You can’t use Mexican peso in the USA or Canada and you can’t use the us dollar in Mexico to buy items. Same thing with Botswana and SA. You can’t use rand in Botswana. But you can use rand in Swaziland, Lesotho and Namibia. Botswana has its own independent currency, Pula, not backed by the rand and its exchange rate is higher than rand
In neighboring places like Jeppes, Phongola, Manyiseni etc they use Swazi currency
