Loved the video Taylor! It was interesting to hear about UPenn because my cousin went their for his bachelors and masters in Architecture. Totally agree though, that higher education is definitely dependent on preference of the person. The older I get the more I realize that learning a trade is just as valuable as I have so many successful friends that didn't go to college. I would love to hear more about your experiences there :)

Current Wharton junior here-I decided to hop on KZread instead of studying for my ACCT 102 exam and came across this. I loved hearing your experiences as an undergrad, and it makes me look forward to reflecting on how much I've grown throughout these four years. I strongly resonate with what you said about moving from the west to east coast. I'm from Arizona, and I understand not being able to see family as much as kids from PA or NJ do. Also, thank you for the class recommendations! I'm planning on taking Negotiations in the fall! I'm happy I came across your video and will continue to follow your channel! Wishing you all the best :) Carmen

I have a huge dilemma so basically i earned the full ride presidential scholarship to my flagship state school. It is worth so much money. select scholarships are blurred for privacy reasons. In total, I have earned the: Presidential Scholarship(valued at 40,000 over 4 years;10k per year) A full Housing scholarship for all 4 years Louis Hurst Award valued at 2000 over four years (500 per year) Henry Family Endowed Scholarship in Business valued at 10,000 over 4 years (2500 per year) A " " scholarship valued at 6000 over 4 years (1500) per year A one tim 6000 educational enrichment scholarship for study abroad, internships, and other educational pursuits The undergrad Research Fellowship award, valued at 4000 over two summers (2000 per summer) The " " Eminent Scholars Grant(valued at 10,000 dollars over 4 years (2500 per year) Assuming I manage money right, i can graduate with around 54k in cash basically. maybe less depending on what kind of internships i do, but around that. But it is nowhere near high ranking as the ivies. if i do get into say Wharton in Penn or harvard/yale/princeton/dartmouht/brown, my estimated famly contribution is around 7k a year. So i'd have to go in at minimum 28k of debt after graduation. But since I'm a finance major, i hear name is very important for finance. but my friends say the profit i'll make after graduation will be much better than the flagship state school. What do you think

Great video! For those of you around the world who cannot afford to attend Wharton, I want to share a short story. Several years ago I wanted to see how good the course instruction was on the Coursera platform. I already had an MBA and a law degree, but I was curious about online learning. So I logged on to Coursera and took a free marketing class given by three Wharton professors. I finished the course. The course content and instruction was outstanding. I could not believe how good the content and lectures were. I neither work for Coursera nor have any affiliation to Penn. I just wanted to share my experience with others who may not have the resources to attend Wharton.

Really appreciate the open minded review, while remaining honest to yourself. It feels that nowadays everyone just loves to bash private universities for their high cost with little value for some reason. For sure, university in the U.S. is overpriced in some part and much can be learned online, but being part of a community for several years and building relationships with like-minded people is really valuable. Let alone, the extra motivation you get from working on projects together in contrast to do online courses in front of your laptop. It is just different. Nonetheless,, it is DEFINITELY NOT for everyone and I know many friends who cannot stand the academic nature of class and rather be more practical about their work (although you sometimes just really need to learn stuff instead of trial and error every little thing). Great video!!!

I noticed on the transcripts the somewhat random "Calc. 2" class just sitting there all by its lonesome as a math credit. Was it integral calculus? Did AP calc. in high school put you right into Calc 2.? Why not take Calc 3 and finish the sequence? Just curious, your academic accomplishments are very impressive. Very happy I found your channel.

I currently go to Ross at Michigan for undergrad, and while i recognize that it is a great resource and learning environment, I feel a little discouraged. After learning about what I should do to pursue my intended career path, it seems like most of it is on my own type learning that I would do regardless of what I am studying, and i don’t feel like I’m getting a ton of valuable knowledge from my classes (although I am a first year, perhaps that is why). Do you have any advice on feeling less disillusioned? It’s ok if you don’t tho I understand that this is a very personal issue :/

Yay loved this video Taylor! I think there are so many valuable lessons to be learned in college/university for sure 🤗 the system as a business is what hurts so many people...the tuition is outrageous and it only keeps growing every year. Hypothetically if someone had to get student loans for the entire $79k a year (which I would say the majority of students have to take out a substantial amount in loans), that’s $316k for four years and then it starts building interest once you graduate. If someone made $100k a year right out of college, after taxes and living expenses, at best and if they’re steadfast, they may be able to pay off $40k-$50k a year off their student loan debt a year, so they would be able to pay off their loans maybe after 8-10 years to include the interest accrual 😬😬😬 So I think that’s a big factor in people asking if it’s “worth it.” But at the same time you would probably have the same type of ratio with a public university in terms of average income and student loan debt. Unfortunately nowadays you have to have a piece of paper from a credible institution even if you could potentially learn it all online. I do think hands on learning should be required for all degrees though, like as apart of the curriculum. That’s a change I would like to see. Anywho, Its just a big business (college/university in general) 😬 I am a HUGE advocate for life-long learning and continually learning new things/topics and I learned a ton when getting my undergrad and grad degree (for the major and for life in general) I just wish the system wasn’t structured the way it is and I wish people didn’t have to go into ridiculous amounts of debt 😖 just my two cents on the matter! LOL

Thank you so much Brittani!! And tell me about it, that really is a scary scenario. Luckily Penn specifically offers pretty good financial aid to those who need it-- "only" 27% of students take out loans on top of their financial aid packages. BUT I know that's not the case at all schools. I couldn't agree more that tuition, especially at private universities, is truly outrageous. The fact that its such a business when it's something people by and large "have" to do (i.e, check the box that they got a college degree when applying to most jobs) makes me sick. The same goes for the college board-- having to PAY college board to send my SAT scores and subject test scores when I was applying was laughable. Even though college board covers that cost for people who truly need it, it's not an expense people should have to pay in the first place (similar to a large portion of that $79k asking price lol). Anyway, I could also rant about this for hours 😂but I agree with you

For every Graham (successful KZreadr or social influencer) there are millions that don't make the same millions that Graham does, no matter how hard one works. Their work ethic is unparalleled especially Meet Kevin's, but I'd still say at least 30% of their success can be attributed to luck. Most people aren't as lucky, and college is a great alternative. Tuition is a scam, but the expensive piece of paper we call a degree is worth it because of the experiences along the way.
