Pretty cool, not many people would have the balls to even attempt a hunt like that

Sea Shepherd has already released a statement that they will not interfere with native open boat subsistence whaling. The Inuit take only the minimum they need to survive.

Yes their is a HUGE difference between these men harvesting meat from a herd they have successfully managed for hundreds and hundreds of years. Compared to Japan and the Asian markets emptying the oceans and killing off entire species for keratin.

@@katonguyen3029 Genocide ? theres more inuit now in the Arctic than in history . And if whitey hadnt showed up you woulnt be using modern boats and your life span would be under 30 . The best thing that ever happened to the native people in the arctic was when whitey showed up. Those survival suits were invented and paid for by whitey . Those gun and Steel hunting gear were not known in the Arctic until whitey got there . Whats easier , having a job or killing a polar bear with a spear? How come you dont live in a skin tent or a stone hut ? Because it sucks compared to your home now ? Doyou Like being a victim of shamans shooting medecine at you?No? Well you can thank the missionaries for freeing you from Bad Spirits ruining your life .You know why TB or black lung is not a problem anymore? Modern medecine. In the old days you entertained yourself with string. Now you got TV , internet , netflicks , popcorn , pop , a toilet and I pad. Who do you think gave you the opportunity at having these things ?Whitey . What have you done to pay back whitey for dragging you and yours kicking and screaming out of the stone age? Nothing .

Sam Wilkinson It’s life in the North. Agreed but life and death for theses people. They often lose lives doing these hunts. I lived in the arctic for many years. This was always the highlight if all the men came back and even better with a whale. Life in the arctic.

7 years later... If you get in contact with an Inuit society and they allow you to come along for a hunt, I'm sure you could make it happen granted you have enough money and are willing to fly to Alaska. Indigenous Whalers have a quota they cannot exceed so you would have to be aware of any seasonal concerns.

Unlike the white man who hunts for sport, these are Inuit people who have permits to hunt the whale as they have for thousands of years to feed their families and village. Who has the right to take away their means of survival and way of living.

Hunts for sport? Yeah that isn't a bigoted comment at all. I've NEVER hunted for sport. I'm in Alaska and I'm a subsistence hunter and fisherman (all my life). www.adn.com/article/20090316/eight-charged-point-hope-caribou-slaughter Was that "sport"? Survival?

Racial generalizations are lazy and only perpetuate ignorance & bigotry to the future generations. Very very few people anymore hunt for sport only esp w/ orgs like hunters for the hungry etc.. Theres nothing wrong with enjoying the hunt or sport activity of it anyway if done legally and ethically but almost all north American hunting now days is for resources (meat/fur) as well as a healthy enjoyable activity.

It sucks watching an animal die. Nobody with a sound mind enjoys it. When I started hunting I puked everytime I killed an animal. I've killed thousands of animals since then, maybe even millions including fish and I thank each and every life for sustaining me.
