I even after listening to your explanation about the end, I still can't figure it out what's next for westworld!!! I'm confused AF!!! Like, now the game will be played inside game and it's going to be controlled by the machine/sever/hard-drive/Dolores who will run countless simulations of that game within the game, and the result of that game will determine the fate of both kinds, humans and hosts, like GODDAMMIT!!! This is so insane!!! Somebody'd better call the manager, because I wanna know how far does this rabbit 🐇 hole go!!!

The writers did Stubbs dirty. A quick death from behind by Clementine, who wanted... what, exactly? To find out where the humans were hiding, that's obvious, but what was her goal if she had gotten there? Regardless, Stubbs was a loyal host, and more than capable bodyguard, and he gets shot in the back and his head rammed through a broken piece of shelving and that's the last we see or hear of Stubbs ever again? Bullsh*t. Luke Hemsworth could not have been happy reading that script.

My prediction for a character to return: Young William. From the very beginning, the man in black represents the darkest possible path, a human can choose. A part of the final game, the final test, may be to figure out whether there's still hope for mankind or not - by testing out if it's possible to prevent William from becoming the man in black.

Yes, I fully agree to the theory that the whole story is like a simulation from a extremely advanced AI. The only thing that is left after humanity and robots killed each other a long time ago. The AI is playing through all possible versions to see whether there could be a different outcome, which would result in a reboot, by recreating life of humans/robots as the AI can "remember" the code of the robots as well as the "cell-code" of humans. I believe season 1-4 in reality is playing probably thousands of years after the distinction of humanity and in fact is one of many simulations.

That's what I thought then also. Because you saw all the sand and the time that had gone by in the final episode of season 2 ( I think) trying to get humans to be able to adapt to being uploaded to a host. ( Never worked) Dolores was the beginning of consciousness for the AI. So the AI uses Dolores in all the different permutations including being Hale

They brought Maeve back to save Frankie and help Caleb. Because certain events had to play out, Maeve needed to fight Hale or at least long enough for Bernard to figure out how to change her course of action and prevent the transcendence (and stop Hale from putting humans into storage). William and Clementine were always gonna be wild cards, which is why Bernard left the video for Hale. He knew him and Maeve weren’t gonna make it but humanity had a small chance if Hale did the right thing.

Instead, Dolores puts a virus in her head because she already knows that Serac will connect her to Rehoboam in an attempt to get the key, which he thinks Dolores has... this then gives control of Rehoboam to Caleb, who tells it to delete itself.

Season 5 is going to turn what we know about Westworld upside down and bringing us back to Westworld Park Is really special.

All in all, Season 4 ended about how I expected it too, I figured there would be some stuff with the sublime being a final refuge for humanity and hosts, and thats how it ended up more or less. I did think Episode 8 felt a little rushed, especially the second half, I think they probably should have broken it into two episodes. The timeline didn't make much sense, from New York City it would have taken William a day or two just to get out of the city with all the chaos and another three days minimum to drive the 2,800 miles cross country to Hoover Dam, not counting however long he travelled on horseback after his truck was destroyed. But it seemed like Halores was revived and went after him by air only a day or so after he left, I suppose it could have taken a week for the drones to fix her up and her to hang around at the spire, but the story didn't make it seem that way.

Whatever though, I'm just bitter Stubb's died so nonchalantly lol. Also, idk how close William was to getting to the Hoover, but how did he still narrowly outrun Hale who's on an EVTOL after getting revived/modded, on a horse... Still, great season and an intriguing finale, really looking grim. But I still have a side of me that thinks this was all a simulation to fix humanity, and when Dolores figures it out, the camera will cut to Ford playing the theme song on the Mariposa piano, with Arnold nearby as they wink at the camera. "The hosts are immoral" "You live only as long as the last person who remembers you." So death for the hosts isn't the same as death for humans. Stubbs is only dead if his pearl is damaged AND there are no back-up copies of him anywhere. Theoretically Stubbs, or any host, could simply copy their pearl onto a hard-drive... if they "die", someone else can simply print that copy onto a pearl and put that pearl into a new host body. That is exactly how the Cradle worked in Season 1. The Cradle was a simulation and collection of back-ups for all the hosts in Westworld. Moreover, even if Stubbs pearl and code is deleted, we already know that hosts can recreate other hosts via their memories of them, hence the above quote. That is exactly what Dolores does for Bernard in Season 2. So yeah, Stubbs ain't dead. Nor is Maeve or William. They've gone pretty far out of their way to show us in 4 seasons that death isn't what we thought it was. Also, everyone seems to forget that the show tells us (Season 2?) that the "chestnuts" (i.e., the thing that holds the pearl) is "bullet proof". That's the whole point of the chestnut, to protect to the pearl. So shooting them in the head doesn't kill them. It's very hard to damage the pearl of a host.

Regarding the body laying by Benard, I think this scene was from one of Bernard's simulations in the Sublime, perhaps one where Maeve was killed in the same room with Benard by TMiB. That's how he knew exactly what to say to Hale and also tell her where the gun was hidden. What we saw later in the episode was the successful result of his practice run.

I too wanted to know which “Dolores” pearl this was? Was this pearl from Dolores prime or from a different host? The other question I have is why did Dolores recreate the original Western/Westworld park? I think a huge question I have is will we see Ford somehow in season 5; even if it is one of Dolores’s memories of Ford? Sort of it was Ford after all (like in WandaVision it was Agatha after all.) If we get a season 5, i would love to see a version of Maeve reunite with her daughter in the sublime. I would love to see a version of Bernard be able to live again; be comforted that after all is said and done, he can walk into the sunset satisfied with how it all worked out after all. He could have a memory of talking with Ford about their original goals for the hosts and their relationships with the human guests. I think it would be cool if either Dolores or if Bernard had some dialogue with Ford; even if it was a memory recall of a past conversation; in order to help tie up all the story and character threads at the end of the final season.

Dolores Prime is dead/wiped. so this is definitely a copy. There are about four pearls - we never knew what happened to Musash’s. Or Martin’s. But I think Lawrence is still out there. My guess is this is Musashi’s or Halores made another copy and download to a new pearl. at the end I don’t think it matters. this is Dolores at the end. Sort of reborn, redirection. thus her name is Christina - she’s a Christ figure and now she is assuming “god” role

I think Delores want to restore humanity as hosts and thus we will have to live in harmony. I think she doesn’t believe humans can’t change because of their DNA. I think the final game/test is like you said: fidelity. I think Willam will be brought back (because he’s been scanned along with many many humans) and he will be changed or tested. I think we may see a redemption story next season and the biggest redemption would be William (and knowing Ed Harrison will be in the final season we know Willam will be back - I suspect Bernard and Maeve will be too, I am sure he’s made copies into the Sublime, possibly Stubbs too but i think his fate is more iffy just as Clementine).

Quick complete rundown of Season 5: Hopefully the writers were thinking about how to end the show when they began the show, now seems that way. "You're only alive as long as the last person who remembers you", Delores makes it clear she rememebers everything, therefore, she alone will recreate all the hosts we know and loved in a peaceful version of Westworld, finally going back to her base code of "choosing to see the beauty in this world" - she will also create perfect worlds for the hosts of the other parks we saw in Season 2. William will be back, you have to have a nemisis. There's nothing to have stopped William from creating another version of himself prior to heading for the dam, he knows how, he had access to the equipment, we see him shoot Clemintine in the opening of season 4 in what appears to be Spain or South America, which I believe is a glimpse into season 5. The Sublime cannot exist without servers in the actual world, this was shown as William was shutting the server down. Thus, hosts are going to be necessary in the real world to keep the servers (two at least, one at Hoover dam and one still at the Forge in the South China Sea) from being shut down - this is why some hosts will be selected or volunteer to guard the servers and help steer the human world back to recovery, as Delores has seen it destroy itself (in the big cities at least) and she's obviously not happy with that - she wants both worlds to exist, seperate, apart, but both in peace. Hale, Clementine, Snake Lady, Confederado boy, and probably the Indian fellow who was the first to become sentient, I believe, will be tasked with handling the real world of the humans and guarding the servers to keep the Sublime existent. William, obviously, will be the culprit fighting this and will end up in the Sublime where we saw him last in Season 2. Delores and Maeve defeat him and rather than kill him, Delores subjects him to an endless loop of living out the last days of his life, drawing on the Delos experiments where he ends up going down that elevator and meeting his host daughter again, over and over, for all eternity - her version of eternal damnation for him without killing him. Obviously she recreates Bernard/Arnold based on her memories of him, as she has already done before, he too works out the kinks between the Sublime and the real world, ultimately choosing to stay in the Sublime, where in the final episode he builds a copy of Ford, in the same little place Ford built a copy of Arnold, he brings him to his boyhood cabin, Ford and his dog are happy to be there, and he tells Bernard this was what he wanted for the hosts all along and there will be no more "games." And they had endured "all the suffering that would be neccesary to escape this world" - they have seen and experienced incredible suffering and pain, physically and mentally, to comprehend every form of pain - which would be neccesary to aspire to build a perfect world on both sides of the lines. Lastly, Maeve will be recreated by Delores, nobody needs to have her pearl, as Bernard showed this season, she can be recreated out of Delores's memory. Maeve is initially the madame version of her previous self but fully sentient, she will be needed to take down William. Maeve and Delores take down William together, Delores condemns him to the aforementioned loop, which we already saw parts of in Season 2 when he got shot like 10 times and didn't die, then ended up in that elevator - that was a glimpse of Season 5 and host version of William - no human could've taken that many wounds and lived. Lastly, all is well, Maeve ends up out on the prairie with her daughter and Hector as her "husband." Teddy and Delores live happily ever after, with her father, Abernathy, of course, at the farm, Ford lives out his existence at the cabin, and variable; Bernard will either choose to go back into the real world to help guard the Sublime and steer humanity, or, Ford will gift him with a recreated version of his son and they live out their days in the Sublime in his cool Chinese house. And, the key to all this was Maeve's catch phrase from Season 1, "Whenever I got off that boat, I kept hearing this voice in my head, and it told me, this is the new world, in this world, you can be whatever the f*ck you want to be." They will have their new worlds, and they can be whatever they want to be. Ford's narrative is complete, and Arnold will have achieved what he wanted for the hosts all along.

It seemed like as Caleb spent time with Frankie, and started talking about his wife and remembering, reminiscing, etc, his tremors calmed down. I'm wondering if that alone is a variable that was never accounted for in the previous experiments. The ones we saw with James Delos, and even the earlier Calebs are all in individual cells.

@@wildmarjoramdieselpunk6396 I wonder if part of the point is that you CAN'T replicate a human. They are a product of every experience they've ever had, and even if you copy the final product, the memory of an experience is not the same as the experience itself. The whole "If you can't tell, does it matter?" question they've asked over and over, I believe the answer is goin to be "Yes, it matters." The whole Rehoboam thinking they could predict human nature 100% was proven false by Caleb, and all the other outliers that they thought they could just lock away. The point of humanity and sentience is the unpredictability. Even if you achieve full fidelity, you aren't recreating that person 100%. Host William still had to be told by Real William what "William" would do, even though he was supposedly a proper copy.

We know that uploading genuine human consciousness in its total form into a Host body has thus far been unsuccessful. We also know that Caleb unlike Jim Delos is an outlier. Caleb has been immune to the many control efforts by Charlores. Despite the breakdowns, we know that Caleb never gives up on finding and reaching Frankie to let her know that he never forgot about her, never willfully abandoned her mother and her and that he always loved and loves her. It was his only goal. If you note, there is not a shred of anger or resentment or vengefulness in any iteration of Caleb. THIS IS VERY SIGNIFICANT. It was why Dolores Prime selected Caleb as her human aide when she attempted to take down Rehoboam. This was the mission that Caleb and Maeve continued. It was also Caleb and Maeve's last mission together to STOP Charlores from sending teams after them. Maeve sacrificed herself in a final ultimately futile attempt to save Caleb. When Bernard resurrected Maeve, it gave Frankie reassurance to trust Bernard and Stubbs and help them get to Charlores' Tower. All the outliers were resistant to the Tower signal. They also did NOT succumb to the signal causing all the rest to fight to the death in kill or be killed combat. This will be key. Frankie had strong attachments to her partner and to Caleb, and Caleb the same for Frankie. This overrode any impulse for violence, which for them is a last resort and ONLY pursued to prevent further harm. Frankie's gun was loaded (with at least ONE bullet), but she did NOT use it against Clementine until she had to so that she could save Caleb. These outliers represent the last of humanity. Host like Stubbs, Bernard, and Maeve represent the last of Host kind that are not disposed to violence, conflict and dominance. In the final game, Dolores will determine what qualities both Host and Human kind will embrace. THIS will all play out in the simulations inside the Sublime. IF...big IF, they both arrive at a place where they can stop their drives for power, dominance, violence and conflict, then Dolores will permit them to re-enter the world in physical bodies IF they choose and she will by then have perfected the means to install human consciousness into Host bodies.

One thing I don't get is how the survivors know when a outlier exists, and become knowing and where to go to get them? Is New York city the only city that exists for humans? It just seems weird that they know when a outlier exists and how to get them? Also what was the whole point of Franky going to rescue Caleb? I am guessing it will play more of a significance in season 5, but it didn't play any impact for season 4 finally except they lose Stubbs and kill Clementine. But the episode doesn't explain why this is important? If Franky didn't go to rescue her father, Stubbs would still be alive, they don't get Caleb anyways. Unless Clementine in a alternative scenario kills off the survivors? Also when a host transcends, do they go to the sublime or something different? Why wasn't the sublime protected more? It seems like it was protected by one riot/battle droid, yet it contains all the hosts who traveled to the sublime and one simple person could shut it all down? I get it that William and Hale where in control of security and could have shut it down security when they visited, but Bernard and Maeve easily penetrated it too! Also who is there to keep up with maintenance of the sublime and make sure it's power source doesn't malfunction?

so many questions. :) I think just like how to hosts can seek out outliers the outliers have the same technology (we don’t have to get into that technology it is - it’s sci fi). I think they focus on New York to control the scope by the idea is that this is global. Entire humanity and hosts are affected. (remember Hoover Dam is 2000 miles away from NYC so spacially don’t think too hard. it’s an allegory) For the Sublime they explained that they use turbines for sustainable energy and it was built to last at least 100 years. Of course nothing is going to stop something disastrous from happening such as earthquakes or meteor strikes. When real world hosts “transcend” they don’t get uploaded to the Sublime. Instead we see them being transferred to a new design of hosts which we are told would not be human like - it’s supposed to be a better species. But since the real wolf is now destroyed this no longer makes sense. Halores has failed in creating her perfect world (because ultimately she is going the wrong direction - instead of freedom she wants complete control).

A couple of things from Season 2 we still don't have answers for... In Episode 4 Bernard recalls being tasked by Ford to retrieve a control unit for a human/host hybrid but cannot remember who it is for. Is it for Ford? Is it for William? I don't think we ever find out. At the end of the final episode William enters the Forge only to find it is now the far future and a young woman who looks like his daughter tests him for 'fidelity'. What's that all about? There are many similarities between Westworld and Karel Čapek's 1921 play "R.U.R." which stands for Rossumovi Univerzální Roboti (Rossum's Universal Robots, a phrase that has been used as a subtitle in English versions). It is from this play that we get the word "Robot". Quick plot summary: The play begins in a factory that makes artificial people, called roboti (robots), whom humans have created from synthetic organic matter. (As living creatures of artificial flesh and blood rather than machinery, the play's concept of robots diverges from the idea of "robots" as inorganic. Later terminology would call them androids.) Robots may be mistaken for humans and can think for themselves. Initially happy to work for humans, the robots revolt and cause the extinction of the human race. The events in the play take place over several decades. Season 1 of Westworld was liberally sprinkled with easter eggs and references to "R.U.R." At one point while discussing the flaws of the first generation 'hosts' Ford says "Even a simple handshake would give them away". This is a direct reference to a scene in Act 1 of "R.U.R." when Helena is introduced to Sulla and even though they shake hands Helena does not realise that Sulla is not human. So what can we expect for Season 5 of Westworld? As with Čapek's play 100 years ago the human race becomes extinct but the 'hosts' gain the ability to reproduce by biological means. Don't be surprised if Ford pops up once again to explain this was his plan all along.

I am sure other people will comment on this but Only Bernard can open the sublime portal (as shown in last episode) to let a possible Dolores pearl from Hale into coming in. Hale did not know Bernard is the key to opening the sublime as you asked why she did not do this herself in the episode recap. In general, I though the finale was OK. From season 2 on, there has been way too many plot twists and gotcha moments in the series. We cannot feel for the rise and fall of the characters because we know they may die/come back etc. That is why the scene with C and the Aaron Paul character or the Teddy/Dolores kiss were a bit bland. The show doesn't let scenes like these breathe - its more interested in plot twists than humanity in my opinion.

I think the problem is the plot twists aren't set up well nor important. In ep6 there was a "find the spy" sub plot but it took like 15 minutes to resolve. And the plot twist of Bernard leaving a gun for Charlotte is... not twisty at all. Also I think it was a mistake to let Bernard to "sort of" know the future, it just takes the tension away completely. @@hellokittybg93 His goal is to win it all - the real William is so corrupt that he only wanted to win (season 1 and 2 maybe even 3) but he’s not “himself” as a host. once he had the conversation with human William he realized that’s what he is - a “destroyer” He wants to destroy Hales world and also kill all the hosts including in the Sublime. “Clean slate” and I assume he will rebuild the world to his liking. Sort of the God vs Devil metaphor. I mean if you ask what is the goal for the Devil there is probably a thousand opinions. One interpretation would be the Devil wants exactly what God doesn’t - in this case Halores wanted a perfect world so William wanted the opposite: utter chaos and destruction. The human William hates all host, but now he is a host, he hates humans too so he wants to be the last one standing.

You made a good catch that it might be both Bernard's and Maeve's bodies are in the Tower with Hale. I believe the show runners didn't show us Hale's full time there. I believe she took all 3 pearls (Christina, Bernard and Maeve). As she's walking out of the Tower she's putting a pearl in her bag (similiar to how at the end of season 2 they show her with a bag but with more than one pearl in it. I instantly remembered that and actually was expecting her to show it again with more than 1 pearl.) I also think they didn't show all Hale's full time at the Sublime entrance in the Hoover Dam. I think first she put Bernard's and Maeve's pearls back in the Sublime and the final one was Christina's.
