Just rescued my lovely 4 year old, Jack. Just Jack from a shelter. He’s an amazing dog and companion. The groomer said he was experienced with Westie cuts and even showed me the book he was using as reference. Wish I had watched this first! I don’t like settling for a hatch job, which is what I got. It’s only hair and I’m sure he’s just happy to have been sprung from the Big house! Thank you for such a precise explanation.

not sure what all if the hate was for, he was very gentle and the dogs loop was for safe handling... Grooming can be dangerous, the dog can sense his mood and vibe and she knows that her behavior is good. I'm sure at the very end her gave her praise. I love him, and sometimes grooms are silent and that's praise enough for the time.

I totally wish I could find a groomer for my westie that had this talent and expertise. I explain over and over what the cut should look like, and overtime I get back a doggie that I do not recognize until he grows out! The westie in this video is adorable and so well-behaved . The cut is wonderful!!!! Great job.

I just adopted a Westie pup who has a severe heart condition -- so she doesn't have those great muscles that this little girl has. I think I'll be able to adapt a lot of Jonathan's pointers, though, and I just won't come in so tight. I love that Jonathan doesn't use clippers! (Too bad I didn't see those thinning shears before I retired. Tough to afford on Social Security!)

Great tutorial showing a superb Westie cut. The thinning shears cut is far more natural. The pup was firmly handled to get the job done quickly and safely. These shears cost over £200. Look worth it though.

I met thus guy in the trade show in Pasadena,CA. He's does wonderful work and us very knowledgeable in breed cuts. I used to watch the show Groomer Has It where he competed and I believe he was cheated out of first place. The other guy who won first place had a nicer disposition, but was not a better groomer than him. I'm glad he's doing very well for himself though from the 15 minutes of fame he got from the show.

How fabulous! Wonderful job. Never mind the hate. People just say what they want to say BC they don't know the ins and outs of grooming. Haters he is grooming a dog with people around owners, breeders, other groomers someone would have stopped him. But I understand...haters gotta hate. Keep up the great work my groomer friend.👍

Avradizimir This is a pro-groomer?😂 Pro-groomer knows how to groom a westie. Pro-groomer knows, that a westie has to be hand-striped. Pro-groomer knows, that if you cut its coat, its coat will be soft and straight. Pro-groomer knows, that a westie should have a wiry and wavy coat. If you cut it, the good coat is gonna be gone.

The loop is in a position where it's not directly on the trachea and causing the doggie discomfort and it limits the amount of movement the cutie bug can make with her head. The dog is alert, curious and poised, not showing signs of distress.

When you are doing a normal groom on a dog you leave a tiny bit more but this one isn't what I would call to tight. It isn't in a position where it's on any parts that could cause discomfort and she can still look around and breathe comfortably. The big reason it's probably like that is because this is a professional demonstration. The dog needs to be very still to make a good instructional video and also to not get cut or injured. Normally while grooming we can have the dog looser but we also can put our hands and body wherever to make sure the dog is safe but while making a video that is difficult so instead the loop is higher.
