Elliot looks so happy to be camping! We took our son camping last September when he was 6 months and it was... interesting. We had a 26' travel trailer, so a little more room than the Westy, but it was still challenging. Especially for sleeping! One suggestion, prepare all your meals (chopping veggies, marinating meat, etc ) at home and package them up. Or precook everything and reheat at the campsite! Makes dinnertime so much easier and faster, plus there are less dishes to wash.

Yes! We did do a bit of that, pre chopped and got everything pre measured etc. Was really helpful

I really need to go visit Canada. What a beautiful part of the world that you have close by you to go explore. I love the van. Looks like so much fun.

Wonderful video love it. When I was Elliots age my grandparents always took us to sebago lake in Maine i he will always enjoy the out doors now that is great hope mom and dad got some rest to though when you could have a wonderful week

Now you know it's doable. You can start exploring in Clifford again! It's great that he's an outdoor kid. Fortunately he won't be in that bed too long and a bit more room will be available. Can you get out the back door when your inside? Has he related Clifford the dog with Clifford the van yet?

too young still for Clifford, but hoping to get him some more books soon! haha

I used to travel a lot until I met my husband, now we have two little ones and haven't gone anywhere since they were born. We tried camping once when our first was ten months old but really didn't enjoy ourselves. It's tough with very young kids but I do hope that someday I will be able to travel again. I miss the freedom 💛

I love it! my daughter who is 3 and I have been living in our westy in Oregon for the last 7 months. Its a learning curve for us all. Stay blessed up.

This was fun to watch. Looks like you had a fun time and probably learned some things to do or to bring next time. Our first camping trip with our oldest son when he had just turned one (31 years ago) we were trying to find ways to keep him busy and we found that he was so happy when we put him in the drivers seat of the car! He was so excited pushing buttons and playing with the steering wheel! It kept him occupied for a good 30 mins each time.

It is great to see you two enjoying being parents, and getting into the Great outdoors again. I'm sure Elliot won't remember any details, but the experience will certainly brighten his horizons.

Watching your baby's smiles, as he experiences all these things is so joyful :)

How fun! Once he's one you should get a Pea Pod bed. They are so much smaller and darker too. Game changer for traveling with a little.

just got back from a trip in my t4 westfalia with a baby about same age. The biggest challange is to drive - I could drive only when he`s asleep. Few hours during day or at night. Another thing is - you could easily travel when baby walks or lies where you left him. Inbetween - possible, but harder. When baby walks-hes gonna be busy on his own. If he crawls - yo`ll need to carry him around a lot. You didnt had baby stoller. Thats because you wouldnt have space inside. I had it cos was away for over a week - and thats pain in the bumb to move it around all the time. :( I`ll get back to travelling with a kid a bit later when he will need less stuff to go with him.

I'm almost 30 and I still regularly get the Rafi song stuck in my head when I brush my teeth :)

I went camping with my son around Elliott’s age, and I tooootally understand the sleep struggle. The stress of not knowing if they’ll fall asleep, how long it will take, and if the noise of other campers will wake them up is..😖a lot. Hope you guys found a rhythm!

Yes, June has been very wet here in central Alberta too. Maybe it will mean fewer forest fires? Elliot looks like he may be an outdoor lover. haha Are you planning a "What we learned from our first camping trip with baby" video? What do you think you will bring next time and what did you overpack... besides veggies. ;) I'm sure there are a few parents out there that would enjoy more of a breakdown. I was thinking since Clifford is so small, perhaps one of those hitch trailer/shelf for carrying extra, like maybe an indoor-outdoor carpet for Elliot to play on?
