An image sparked this story. It arrived in our inbox - a beautiful new Western Star and Patchell Industries nine-axle log combination, and with it was a short message from its East Cape-based owners Tutu and Raewyn Manuel. As brief as the note was, it resonated with heartfelt pride and excitement in their new ‘baby’. We knew, without doubt, there was a story here, we just never knew how big it was and the profound impact it would have on us.

Say the surname faster like a real Coastie pronounced “Manual”. It comes from our Spanish ancestor Manuel Josef & around that neck of the woods his descendants are called Paniora 👍🏾
