"Western Front Ace" - Sixth and Seventh Patrols
Ойындар
A video playthrough of the solitaire World War One board game "Western Front Ace" published by Compass Games and designed by Gregory Smith and Ian Cooper. The game allows the player to fly as a scout (fighter) pilot in World War One. The goal is to score as many victories as possible and simply survive.
Our German pilot, Josef Bongartz, flies his sixth (Escort) and seventh (Balloon Busting) patrols. Bongartz upgrades to a new scout and transfers to a new aerodrome, encountering British aircraft for the first time.
1:55 - Sixth Patrol
8:27 - Seventh Patrol

@@pdex2165very interesting game I must try this one ! I hope to see a French campaign on your channel too
Great series, well put together and edited. Can't believe I've had this game since its release and haven't played it yet.
After seeing the quality of your Skies Above Britain and these WFA games, I reckon it's time to subscribe.
Fuel Tanks and Engine hits roll for Fire. It's on the Damage Chart for them. 12 for Fuel Tank Fire, 2 or 12 for Engine Fire.
Yay, Brit pilot next video! Commiserations to your captured "hun". Time to watch "Aces High" again.
Another high quality video. However, I have two rule things to bring up. One, I don’t think your wingman should have been able to attack the 2-seater since it wasn’t selected as a two-seater encounter, but rather as a fighter encounter (see the wording of rules 7.1.10 and 7.3.3 … also, the game designer just confirmed my interpretation tonight on BGG). Two, leaking fuel tanks force the player to abort at the end of combat, not immediately after the current round of shooting. Rule 7.5.2 only applies to the enemy aircraft.

Thanks for that clarification! Obviously, I misinterpreted that rule regarding 2seaters.

he could still attack the 2 seater with the wingman by drawing a card like against a fighter right?
Such a great game. My personal record is 15 missions, I can't imagine surviving the entire war.
Thanks a lot for the outstanding presentation. I wanted the game… but hadn’t bought it yet… I already have similar games… yes… no… But watching your videos got me in and I just placed an order.

Thanks for the kind words! I'm glad you are enjoying the videos. Yes, even though the game is similar to many of Greg Smith's designs it's still great fun because it has such a wonderful theme and "feels" different enough to help it stand out from the others.
Just got the game and am setting it up now. I did the random generation of a pilot and ended up with a Belgian. later today, I'll play my first patrols.
The best day is Poindexter games video day

I have to agree. Get up everyday to see if new missions are posted and check in again when I get home. I can't wait for the next series.
Is there a reason why you did not use your reflexes ability to get in a first shot at the Strutter in the 6th patrol? Excellent video. Looking forward to the British iteration. Also, do AMERICAN TANK ACE.

@@pdex2165 Thats what I figured. I thought maybe a rule that came up?
I enjoy all your content, but I do hope you'll go back to the Skies above Britain campaign at some point. The campaign becomes very interesting as Squadron casualties and fatigue increase, and the remaining pilots gain experience.

Couldn’t you have used your good luck charm to re-roll in No Mans Land to see if you were in friendly territory? I did, and it saved me, if I read the rules correctly.
