The master of torque- the 409. They sound great still! I had a red'64 Chevy Impala SS 409 with dual quads and a 4 spd. Ohhhh, the memories.

When I was a young man, about 1967 I saw a yellow 65 just like the one in this video. It was a factory 409 car. I have been a Chevy guy my whole life and have never seen another one. I will be seeing the black 62 from Utah, probably tomorrow at our annual graffiti race. What I liked about the X-frame cars was knocking out the carrier bearings and how the single upper control arm pulled through the body behind the rear seat. Good times.

1000 plus runs with my bracket 63 409 car with the 2 piece drive shaft and the 2nd upper link with o problems. This is a 12.70 car. Good times. Took 2nd in the nationals in 1987 (Gone But Not Forgotten)

I have worked on or around cars for 55 years. Seen lots of different kinds. I have only seen 1 409 powered 65 in that tme. It was a yellow Impala SS car just like the one in here. This is an excellent video. Thanks for posting it.

Are these held every year at or near this place? I live on the West Coast a ways north of this location. I'd like to go watch one of these particular events.

el primer 409 era un derivado , del 348 , y despues se partio de un bloque nuevo para hacer el nuevo 409 pc que paso por 396pc,427pc y 454pc

It sure looks like in every instance where a Chevy went up against a non-Chevy in this video, the non-Chevy ate the Chevy`s lunch.

348 409 shootout? Looks like 348 409 versus other cars of all kinds. I was thinking ONLY 348's and 409's versus each other.

Video could have been a lot better with a tripod, less pit shots, and a wider angle lens to pick up the Christmas tree when the drivers start.
