'Wish you were here?' presenter Judith Chalmers takes a trip on the sleeper service from London St Pancras station to the beautiful Scottish Highlands, where she takes the nostalgic West Highland line steam train service that takes passengers to Mallaig.

Judith Chalmers was such a pro... used to love her on Wish you were here, can still hear the theme tune. Just simple honest informative programmes back then, the whole family could watch. Watching this you realise how things have gone downhill so much in 30 years.
Great to look back on how professional everything was 30 years ago. I managed to get to Mull via Oban and Fort William by car in 1991. Some good family memories, but this train journey would have been more relaxing.

They just don't make straightforward, informative and entertaining holiday shows like this any more. The same thing happened to Top Gear. It was once a fabulous way to find out everything about new cars. Then it turned into a male menopause ego trip.

It's not like there's no demand. Traditional media just insists on being awful. And they wonder why people don't watch it.
How very civilised and a great way to spend a weekend. Shame I was too young and broke to enjoy it personally. It would have been a great memory.
I do too, wish I was on a train to London, anywhere.

'tis a pity how many there are. Four take a table seat and instantly out comes 3 x 6 packs of lager and monster crisps. "ah, now that's f***** more like it." and the language continues in that vein all the way. If they could smoke, they would.
