Bill, use to drink in the Halton Castle early / mid 1990,s and pop in the Hare and Hounds down the road, back when former EFC Player John Bailey would regularly prop the bar up at weekends 🤫🤫🤫🤭🤭🤭

It's a decent neighborhood West Derby village, it's similar to woolton village, lovely homes, bars, restaurants, the downside is you do get gangs from the wider community coming into the area, the same as most places.

I totally agree he probably saving lives without realising, cos a hell of a lot of ppl suffering mentally and just watching, Billy, Terry, and Joe, always without fail puts a smile on my clock. Should be in tablet form better than any anti depressants.🙏💙👍.

Nice shots of west derby village Billy.the problem with rowdiness is not really locals, many people from all around the area head there.

I grew up on Melwood Drive in the '60's. It really was great back then.

Thanks for showing that. I went to school in West Derby (in the 70s and 80s) and remember cross country around the estate. Back then the village was a pretty quiet place to go for a drink. Not been there for about 30 years. How time passes.

I was brought up in WD attending St Mary's primary school in 1966-1970 moving on to WD Comp I still remember as thou it was yesterday, great times when everybody had respect,you wouldn't dare go on croxteth hall estate in fear of being caught by the gamekeeper oh happy days.

Get in to the "Cask micro brewery pub" on the drive just up from the village, great staff, great beer and a graet place, will buy you a bevy Billy next time I come up from Norfolk and drop in. Miss Home.

The Halton Castle is a great traditional pub. West Derby is nice, however, you have Croxy, Nogsy, and Hyton within walking distance.

I’ve lived in Liverpool all my life and never had a bevvy in west derby for some reason I was always more up by Kenny way so just went into town but to be honest I think any local area pubs if they don’t know you ya get snarled or they think your a bizzie 😂😁

I used to live in West Derby not the village though I lived on Deysbrook Estate it's a nice area but I think the rowdiness will come from influx of " trendy" restaurants and their clientele

You do it all matter of fact yet what you're doing is very different to what we've ever seen on Utube!

It's not the places that are good or bad. All places are good. It's the people who make it bad. West Derby was good when it had the pubs but now it's too quiet. The Sefton arms was at one point closed down but it must have quietly opened up again. Is 60 years "young"? Most people are dead by that age.
