Wow, all of a sudden slot car videos are popping up in my feed. I had no idea this was still going on. It's cool to see this again. I raced quite a bit in the late 80 and early 90's. The two classes I raced were hand built cars using plastic Nascar model bodies. We built the chassis from scratch using brass and steel wire. The other class was Flexi with off the shelf parts and no major modifications allowed to those parts. I wish there was a a track near me, I would jump back into this hobby.

@ West Coast Slot Cars...Just a little constructive criticism, You should realign you video camera by raising it up some. I've noticed on the videos I've watched on your channel the main part of the of what you're showing especially if you pick the slot car up gets cut out of view. Or you could set camera so it picks up a wider field of view? Just a suggestion. Thanks for the videos, keep them coming.

Thanks for these tips! I'm very tempted to buy the Mark Donohue/Sunoco version and I was expecting it to not run so well... I kind of gave up on these pretty cars that are not real racers and stick to NSR/Revo/Sideways/Thunderslot, but it's just so cool looking!

Nice video Mark. I am not sure the allowable modification rules for your upcoming series, but you can improve the body float on this Pioneer car by removing (just cut them out) the rear bushing holders attached to the body (the two black posts toward the rear of your car). Also, file down/remove the two small protrusions at the bottom of the cockpit so that the bottom of the cockpit is smooth.

Hi Chris! That’s a GREAT suggestion, however not allowed to cut or grind anything from the body or chassis. Thank You for watching and I greatly appreciate your comments. Happy Racing and God Bless!!

Looks good. We usually put the weight on the chassis side not the body side. Let us know how it handles when you get it on track. I use putty weight on the chassis. Great video Marc.

When you mentioned breaking in the gears. Did you say, Simichrome Polish? Is that done to act like a lubricant?

Hi Peter! The polish make the gears a little softer while breaking them in. After your gears sound smooth, remove the polish and put a dab of lubricant on the gears.

Nice video! Great looking car. What rear tires are you going to use?

I am just using the stock tires for now! After testing on the wood track, I need to true the tires down even more to get the chassis lower. Thanks for watching and Happy Racing!!

Survey the weight goes on the chassis! I.e lower the better.
