Any parent who has gone down the baseball journey with their son knows exactly what they are feeling, at least to some extent. A solid decade of pure commitment from the player and his family, half or more of each year on the road in tournaments, nonstop practices, all of the emotional ups and downs and sacrifices made, all coming to a head at one moment. You can just see the pride he has for his son. Very special.

Well said. And even when after all that time on the road in tournaments was spent and you're exhausted and the end of the journey doesn't end in MLB, the journey and time spent with family and friends was a prize in and of itself and some of the best years of our lives.

@wasntme7845 I've spoken to people that had a daughter play in competitive fast pitch softball and it's the same - only their "MLB" is landing at a D1 College, so the experience is the same - even when your kid doesn't land a D1 school or the Pros. It's an intense tournament circuit that is at a demanding pace.

The baseball grind just to make it to the majors makes a man out of any blue chip kid and humbles them daily along the path. That’s why this sport is so unique, the men who succeed in it have been through the mill of self doubt, financial insecurity, disappointment and perpetual hope. The father’s tears were s deeply heartwarming moment of joy knowing his son had made the most of a beautiful opportunity and also reassurance all those hours playing with the boy made his dreams come true!

Lost my dad Nov 2022 and one of the few things I did right was play baseball. Dad only missed one game ever, never missed a practice. Anyways my brother sends me this clip and says this reminds him of how proud you would make dad. Humbled, missing dad, so proud of Wilson, must be a crazy journey just to get to this point.

As a parent, we can attest to the success of our children. It’s what you work so hard for over the course of many years. Then, you see something like this and you can’t help but feel such a sense of relief . It’s an emotional relief knowing your children will make it. I think teachers feel similarly when they learn of the success of one of their students.
