Yes, and The Story Goes is his most underrated album. Was quietly released in the USA without promotion, but I have the UK version of the album, which had the track Never Should Have Walked Away. Such a great song exclusive to the UK version.

He did not adapt to the new music era, garage loss popularity after the 90s and too many good artist from Usa came along with him and copied his style in the early 2000s with Major labels , Beyonce Lopez Kelly Nelly Usher Drake Chris Brown and many stole the show. The competition was too high

His sophomore album Slicker Than Your Average ruined him in the USA after a great start. I mean he became dubbed the British R. Kelly after album and many Americans lost interest in Craig David's music after that album. He went in a completely different direction with his music after his debut album similar to what Justin Timberlake did after his solo debut album Justified. Did not stick to the formula that made his first album successful and changed it up too much. Making records his fans did not expect.

Craig David is so special his vocal control and his signing style are so unique. Of course, people don't understand music. They listen to the auto tuner without even realizing is there. Craig is not underrated because of those people. he is underrated because of the 2000"s era.

Funny you mentioned R. Kelly. Craig David was dubbed as the UK version of R. Kelly after his sophomore album Slicker Than Your Average and never really recovered in the USA market after that. He has not got much mainstream music attention in the USA after that album. Many Americans forgot about him and just know him for the album Born To Do It. It is like Craig David disappeared after the early 2000s to the average American. Also funny is when he does a concert in the USA it usually does well even though he barely promotes his albums in the USA anymore. He has been quietly dropping albums or new music in the USA. I remember seeing his album The Story Goes in a Virgin Megastore in the USA years ago. Did not realize he had dropped a third album. Ended up ordering the UK version online just because it had the song Never Should Have Walked Away, which was not on the USA version.
