@carlosbelizario5360 ~ Hi there Carlos, I have photos of the W model Kenworth with 12V92 Detroit Diesel, we had come out of Los Angeles (1982) the night before having unloaded a load of timber ex Portland Oregon and reloaded building supplies in the same area of LA and stopped for breakfast at a small truck stop in Oregon the next morning, this Werner Kenworth W model was parked up at this truck stop and the driver came out to ask me why I was taking photos of it, he intually thought that I had run into his truck until I explained that I was in a similar W model Kenworth with 12V71 Detroit and asked me if wanted to see the engine so he lifted the hood and I have numerous photos of the truck including the engine. Turns out Werner Enterprises were testing the engine for Detroit Diesel definitely had Allison Automatic Transmission and I also explained to him that I was on an extended visit to the United States Of America from my home country of New Zealand. This Kenworth had a Large flat roof sleeper around 86 inch to 90 inch and pulling a general freight trailer with a tarped load on it, I think he was heading north bound toward Los Angeles as we never saw him again !!! This was a very long time ago and was only 25 years old, I'm going on 68 years old now and spent some of my working life driving Reefer on OTR in Australia mostly driving W model and K100 Kenworth trucks also some conventional Macks and Cabover Australian built Cruiseliner Mack trucks Caterpillar 3406 engine powered with Brakesaver and no engine brake !!! Perhaps the driver of this Freightliner show truck which is "a feat of American Engineering" knows something about CL Werner's W model Kenworth that I talk about, probably one of many special trucks Werner Enterprises owned and operated over the years gone by !!! Hope this explains a bit more of how I got to see Werner's Kenworth that morning. Kind Regards, AJ BENTLEY. Rotorua, North Island, New Zealand 🇳🇿

@@aj-kwt909truckin31 What an incredible story, I would also like to have an opportunity like that, seeing a KW w900 with a 12v92 must be fantastic, I am an admirer of 12v92 for their beauty and unmistakable sound, did this KW have a very elongated nose? I admire Australia and New Zealand for sharing European and American trucks on the same terrain, but American trucks have always been my favorite without a doubt. Thank you for sharing this story with us 👍

Hi Carlos, Thankyou for replying to my comment and in answer to your question about whether this Kenworth had an elongated nose, yes the hood on those W models powered with 12V Detroit were much longer than a standard W model Kenworth hood similar in length to the Freightliner Hood in this Video, this Kenworth with the 12V92 Detroit in it was a very special built truck for Werner Enterprises especially on and around the Engine, alot of the Engine components were either chromed or polished alloy with some components being polished brass as well as polished copper. The driver claimed it was originally around 1200 horsepower but Werner Enterprises were not happy with it's fuel consumption and had it cut back to around 750 horsepower I guess by refitting smaller injectors, I guess he was telling me the truth and not telling me a load of bull.!!! Regardless of what he told me it certainly wss an impressive piece of equipment noting that Werner Enterprises have.operated some very highend equipment over the years !!! Hope this message finds you well Carlos ~ Kind Regards and Happy New Year. AJ. Bentley Rotorua North Island, New Zealand. PS : Keep the flag flying 🇺🇸

@@aj-kwt909truckin31 Goodnight. How are you doing? I always wanted to know if a 12v92 would easily fit in a truck like the Kenworth model W, as it is an engine intended for marine and industrial use, its length is certainly greater than that intended exclusively for trucks like the 12v71, however the 92 Series is It's a very elegant and powerful engine, and it catches my attention, even though I know there were some installed in trucks, I've never seen anything talking about it. I would be happy if you could share these photos of KW with us.👏 Thank you for answering my question 😁, have a good night. May God always keep you safe. A happy and prosperous 2024 👍🚛

The V8 of Detroit were known for its reliability and long livability and low end torque but lack of a punch that was needed for high power and low speed applications like logging and forestry and mining , so yes, they did put 2 X 8V together, same as they did put 2 X V6 to become the V12 to be used in high weight freight, but mile per gallon over the road applications the fuel eat all the profits, so no go, and the survivors are taking part in truck shows only...most of the time.
