Hard to tell if the user was trolling or that retarded. With that said, the said video was pretty inaccurate as it had pushed some notions that are misleading including binoculars could have helped spot the ice berg, fire caused the sinking...

The point in the theory is that the Olympic was damaged and found at fault so insurance would not cover the loss. They swap the ships and sink the one that was "new". I think I read about how the closest ship had no passengers but conveniently a cargo hold full of blankets and sweaters. Total BS or not it's definitely not the dumbest way to do it if they did

These conspiracy nuts conveniently ignore the fact that it would have taken months to switch the two ships. Not the few days that the ships were in the shipyard together after Olympic’s accident. Not to mention the hundreds of shipyard employees that would have had to be in on it and then stayed mum about the whole thing for decades after.

Another giveaway Titanics promanard was different enclosde up to the 1st funnal.

No matter how similar two ships may be, they are built differently! Even if the designs and the shipyard that built her were the same, the second ship will have been built by solving the problems meet with the first. Furthermore, each ship has its own characteristics so it is really impossible that they had been exchanged

There are so many differences between the ships, the number 401 is everywhere on the wreck, so many employees should be part of this switch and the shipyard in Belfast wasn't hidden. So if they would switch the ship many people would recognise it.. It is impossible!

What I most find hard to believe is the idea that they could have intentionally sunk it in the first place. Icebergs were not monitored like they are now, so to find that specific huge iceberg, in the middle of the atlantic ocean, in the middle of a very dark night, and cause damage *just* enough to sink the ship takes a lot of skill

@@danr9584 The keel was damaged from a collision with HMS Hawke on her 4th voyage. It was going to cost mega money to put right as the keel is the back bone of a ship. Both ships were in Ireland as the Titanic being finished up and Olympic being inspected. They altered decks and name plates to conceal the switch. Passengers were confused as the layout inside was not as expected. Portholes were also different and the other important factor was the boat listed slightly from the damage. J.P. Morgan ~ Whitestar insurance fraud!

Olympic and Titanic were only 40 days together in Dock. Due to Titanic and Olympic being structurally quite different, having the names and yard number of the ships on each fork, plate, rivet and beam, this would take way more than 40 days, even with thousands of workers. You would effectivly need to change the whole ship. Also while diving to the Titanic a lot of peaces were recovered which all have Titanics Yard Number 401 on them. Also also, many sailors on Titanic were already on Olympic before and remarked (since they knew Olympic quite well) how great many of the differences and changes were, that were made to Titanic. And titanic was extremely underinsured and White Star lost massive amounts of reputation and money due to this disaster

Yup the Irish did indeed work on the ships but as most of them where still referred to as Fenians and where apparently silenced in to talking about there work surrounding the Olympic or Titanic.

Another fun fact: At the time of Titanic's sinking in 1912, Olympic didn't have Palor suites on board, in fact, her entire first class cabins on b deck didn't stretch all the way out to her superstructure outer shell and still featured a first class wrap around promenade, similar to her a deck, until her refit that happened in 1913(***NOPE, it was Cafe Parisian that got added onto Olympic that year, not the cabins extension, which happened in 1928, my apology) that replaced her wrap around promenade with stretched cabins all the way out a la Titanic style, but even with this refitted, White Star and Harland & Wolff didn't even alter her b deck's windows pattern one bit, which was also different from Titanic from the beginning. Edit1: correction to that It was Cafe Parisian that got added in 1913, not cabins extension, extended cabins arrived in 1928.

The cabins actually weren't extended out until the later 1920s, and even then, not all of them did. Olympic retained the vast majority of its B deck promenade for a great amount of its career, furthering the conspiracy into the realm of nonsense ;)

Correct. Ismay had noted the popularity of the new Cafe Parisian that was exclusive to the Titanic during its brief voyage, and had decided that Olympic should also have one added. This happened during Olympic’s refit to add the double hull plating and additional lifeboats after the 1912 season. This alone would have differentiated the two ships, along with many other elements. Olympic and Titanic were almost identical, but not entirely so.

Not to mention the extremely lavish interior of Titanic that Olympic did not have. You can’t just “swap them out”

Well, they had the exact same specs and proportions except one was supposedly slightly heavier. Most of their differences were minor. Olympic had a very elaborate elegant design. Even had a similar grand staircase as the Titanic. And if you're in the building stages of two things that look almost exactly alike, no one really knows which is which until you label and identify them. If you ride the same size Delta air plane every time you fly, the only difference in the planes you might notice are the crew changes. Someone can put the same tail number on two of them, you're not likely to notice that the plane numbered 11 is really supposed to be numbered as 13 unless it's brought to your attention.

Aircraft inside and out are built on assembly lines and when ordered as a fleet, any two adjacent aircraft are nearly always going to be exactly the same bar the registration and component serial numbers. Titanic and Olympic had significant differences, not minor ones, both inside and out, structurally and aesthetically.

Titanic Animations has a great video on debunking the insurance swap theory, which pretty much says that some people claim that while Olympic was in for repairs after colliding with the Hawke for forty days, they stripped both ships down, while Titanic was still being fitted out, redesigned Olympic to be more like Titanic and vice versa, and reinstalled the fittings meant for Titanic on Olympic...when the fitting out period alone took more than one hundred days on one ship! The more details you look at about the claim, the more nonsensical it gets.

You're just not listening to it because you want to point fingers and call everybody sheep, because feeling like you know better than everybody else and possessing some "secret knowledge" makes you part of an in-crowd and you seek validation for it. Allow me to outline the FACTS. Here is the data that tears the conspiracy theory apart; 1 - there is no nameplate on the hull - the name is stenciled into the steel and painted 2 - the Titanic's B-deck windows at the forward end of the superstructure were modified prior to her fitting just after her launch and were made to be irregularly-sized and unevenly-spaced, which you can see on the wreck today. The Olympic's B-deck forward windows were all identical in size and evenly-spaced 3 - The Olympic featured a completely open A Deck, with windows spanning from foreward to aft. On the Titanic, the A Deck only had the windows reaching from aft forward and stopping about halfway, the rest of the deck being enclosed. You can still see this on the wreck, and photos of the Olympic after 1912. 4 - both vessels were built with 15 portholes on the forecastle deck, and the Olympic was modified with more after 1912, which you can see in photos. You can still see 15 on the wreck today 5 - The Olympic's hull number was 400. The Tiranic's was 401, which was bevelled into the steel. You can still see this on the wreck today 6 - The Olympic was only in Harland and Wolff's shipyard for repairs for a total of two weeks which would be NOWHERE near enough time to complete the modifications conspiracy theorists will insist occured 7 - The Titanic was underinsured by over 2.5 million dollars (in 1912) and so cost White Star a LOSS rather than net gain following the sinking. Assuming both ships had been switched and the White Star Line wanted to keep that a secret, they'd have increased the insurance coverage on the "Titanic" so they could get paid out when it sank - they did not do this 8 - White Star had no way to know the Titanic would sink - when the ship received several ice warnings from other ships in the area, Captain Smith diverted the Titanic to a course further South that would avoid all the icebergs from the warnings received by other ships. It was an unforseen (and very unlikely chance) that the iceberg in question happened to drift as far South as it did that year, but an unusually warm patch of ocean in the area would ensure the Labrador current carried it where it ended up 9 - The White Star Line would anticipate a massively damaged reputation for unsafe ships, which would cost them their net revenue and eventual bankruptcy. None of the shareholders were able to pull out unscathed. Certainly, choosing to swap ships to have one sunk would provide some kind of monetary gain? 10 - Contrary to conspiracies online, Strauss actually supported the fed reserve and neither Guggenheim nor Astor took an official position on it - it would also be far easier and more effective to send a single assassin to kill two men then try to organize the ship to sink by putting it on a path with no known icebergs The switch theory came out decades and decades ago and has been torn apart EVERY time it is brought up. Enclosed Promenade. Titanic had it. Olympic didn’t. And it’s not something you could easily swap out or apparently even add because it was never added to the Olympic in her long service life. And that’s where this theory ends.

Actually it would've been relatively easy to add, since it was simply a wall extension with windows. Titanic's was added in only a couple weeks, in fact. Olympic never had one because Olympic retained a good portion of its enclosed B deck promenade throughout its life; Titanic's A deck promenade was only partially enclosed to compensate for the removal of its B deck promenade. The theory is still garbage, though.

In a book somewhere that has that first photo in this video, it said the name Titanic was added in by the photographer at a later time and was not actually visible when the photo was taken

The weekend when both Olympic and Titanic were docked would not be enough time to switch the ships because there would be a lot of items to be moved. Also, both ships were not 100% identical. It was a made up story about ships being switched

All those differences would be unnoticable once you are on a ship especially as ship is yet to be put into service. You think any of waiters had plans for ships to compare the lenght of dining room in couple of feet? In a debate if you claim something you are supposed to argument it and not move to next evidence if asked to explain. Ship switch is common practice in history so before you start debunking conspiracy ifiots at least try and not use their tactics. Many smart people wrote on subject, if rather listen to their exipirienced oppinion than someone that cant follow a simple conversation. @@rcajavus8141 Two big ones - bridge cabs on Titanic extended over sides of hull, they were flush on Olympic. And the entire B Deck plan on Titanic was completely different than Olympic. The switch theory is ludicrous and has been disproved by Titanic scholars like Mike Brady.

Not to mention, Titanic and and Olympic have different bridge structures, and Titanic has an enclosed promenade, which would be pretty difficult to just change. Also, there were passengers and crews, that traveled on both. Who would probably recognized it at the interior.

add into the fact Titanic was advertising things Olympic didn't have. Wouldn't the rich spoke up about this? "Where was the café parsianne? It was advertised, and there was none!"

My daughter wasn't interested in my research into our genealogy until I found cousins who are descendants of a couple, returning to Minneapolis from a three-month European honeymoon, who survived the sinking of the Titanic. I later found a Galway ancestor who survived but lost her fiance in the disaster.

One of the downfall of this modern world is these conspiracy idiots.

I genuinely can’t fathom how some people genuinely believe they were swapped. If they were swapped, the numbers would be different. And ultimately, to properly swap the ships completely, it would be more expensive than how much it cost to build them to begin with.

Prior to being painted, it was outlined on the steel hull and stamped in with a hammer and chisel, making it both etched into the hull and painted. There is an account from someone who worked at H&W detailing its procedure. It’s outline is first written in chalk in the area the plans call for, with a hammer and punch, it’s pin punched in to form an outline with dots, then another person comes with a hammer and chisel and chisels the outline to the required depth, giving a complete outline chiseled into the hull, and then it’s painted

Yes, I know and I red the whole website why a swab is not possible, but it onlnly gave me more assurance that a swab was done. Furthermore, vistit the "Titanic Museum" in Belfast. You will see a whole collection of Olympic pictures and not Titanic.

Yeah, because photography was expensive. Why pay thousands to take photos of a new ship when you have photos of a very very similar ship you can use. Not to mention that Titanic sunk on its first voyage so they hardly had a chance to photograph it.

Easiest theory of them all to debunk. Titanic and Olympic had different numbers on their propeller (and Titanic’s correct one can still be seen on the wreck”, not to mention slightly different designs (cosmetic and even porthole arrangements).

Apparently the polonium he was carrying became unstable and melted the steel of his tower before a separate part of the ship was hit by a missile. The Egyptian’s tried to cover up this by changing all the build numbers of the spaceship and hiding them in pyramids. @@iamhungey12345 For a conspiracy to exist successfully, it operates in secret. If you have heard of it, it is false. There are people who work in the intelligence sector who laugh at the outlandish conspiracies that circulate.

The fact that some people think the 2 ships were switched around the time of Titanic’s maiden voyage is ludicrous. Besides the name plate, Titanic’s A-deck/Promenade was more enclosed (besides the windows) than the Olympic, which had a fully open Promenade deck.

Swapping the B-Deck configuration alone is going to cost a lot of time and money. RMS Titanic's B deck windows size and distance varies while Olympic B-Deck windows are equally the same size and mostly evenly spaced. This not like GM car you can easily swap emblems, bumpers and tail light and call the day.

You can also make out a lot of the stern text. I know they cleaned off the bow name ages ago but I don’t believe the stern was ever cleaned.

I must admit when the Gardener book was first published in the 90s I was quite intrigued by the theory, and the idea that such a huge cover up could have taken place. Over time there's just been so much overwhelming evidence to disprove the theory, that I'm surprised so many people still buy into it.

I personally don t believe the theory of swapping ships in order to sink the one with issues for insurance money but the ones believing it has some reasons for it,like the bilionairs being against Federal Reserve a inauguration, J P Morgan s rivals, etc, who were killed in that disaster, as well , J P Morgan himself had a ticket but he cancelled his trip in the last minute, there are some survivors declaring they have not seen any iceberg,just heard some loud noises like an explosion and some survivors declaring the ship had some scratches and was leaning on the right side of it, refering to the fact that the ship that sunk that night was actually Olympic and those issues were from a previous crash.I think these are some good arguments for a mediocre mind and that s Why many people believe it but i think If it was on porpuse,the money from insurance was good but as well,the sink of that luxury ship would have damaged the image of WSL and less people would have travelled with its ships after. There are many conspiracy theories believers but unlike flat earth s one,this is a Little bit more normal

@@vladaltreilea1431 None of this makes any sense. It all requires the White Star Line and JP Morgan to be able to see the future and plan things months before they actually happened. Not to mention, they never had the opportunity to swap the ships. Think about it like any other criminal investigation. Means, motive, opportunity. They didn't have the means, so motive and opportunity are irrelevant

To be honest, if a person truly believes the two ships were swapped, in secret, in just a few hours, without it leaking to the press at the time, while both ships were clearly and prominently on display, with thousands of workers at the shipyard… that person is a bit lost down the conspiracy rabbit hole, and probably needs to get some help or support to get back out.

Finally. Someone who actually thinks this is fake. Still to this day, I still see people commenting, even making videos that the Olympic and the titanic swapped. That literally makes me furious to see millions of people actually believe in this “theory”. Literally makes my brain melt. Thank you for actually telling the truth.

When you look at the theory, even just hearing it sounds stupid and impossible.

Along with all the other reasons they weren't switched: why would they spend time and money they didn't have, into changing the interiors of both ships? They weren't even carbon copies, people who had already been on the Britannic would have noticed something was really off the next time they sailed on it. And if repairing the damage was too expensive, how the heck could they have afford this bizarre switcharoo? Refitting two enormous ocean liners and then sinking one of them was cheaper than just repairing the ship? The "theory" is so stupid on its face from every angle.

I was today years old when I found out there are *Titanic Deniers* out in the world

It’s more annoying enough that I met a theorists who claimed Andrews and Smith committed suicide because they were afraid of prison time.

Folks, this has been debunked. Olympic's "A" Deck is Open and Titanic's "A" Deck is partially closed. The Bridgewing of the Titanic hangs over the hull and the Olympic's Bridgewing is flush with the side of the hull. You all can see the beginning of "T I T.." on the hull in the video. This is just ridiculous.

"Golden yellow" sounds like the color orange is trying to upsell their grindr profile.

Given how some of them resorted to using alts in some convos and constantly move the goalpost whenever 401 and the enclosed deck gets brought up, you're being generous.

I can't believe people are still on about this. It's such an irrational theory. And even if it were true it changes nothing about the disaster and the history.

Swapping the Olympic and Titanic makes no sense in anyway, that really is just one of those conspiracy theories that I swear someone made up while high one day and was like "What if, the Titanic didn't actually sink bro".

I saw a hilariously bad video claiming to show the nameplate being bolted on. It was such a poor CGI rendering as to be obviously fake. It amazes me that they tried to pass it off as genuine.

I think the theory is that Olympic was already outdated compared with Titanic. Because they made alot of improvements to Titanic. But that does not answer your question. If you want to sink Olympic on purpose why not just let Olympic go down???

The idea that sometimes terrible things just happen terrifies some people. It's comforting for them to believe there's always a plan, always someone in control, even if they're evil.

I found a newspaper article after the first trip down there in the late 80’s. It stated there was no name to be found. I think it’s interesting that the Olympic was insured for $1 million but the titanic was insured for $5 million according to news reports at the time.

Ok, we need a video with Flat Earth people arguing with Hollow Earth people.

I enjoy your videos very much. I spent many years at sea, many dry docks and of course, many stories.

Bridge stuck out beyond the hull on titanic. was flush on olympic. watching many many videos since I became a fanatic at 6 when they first found the thing... the number 401 shows up on many pieces all over the wreck. they wouldnt have bothered to change hull numbers back then. 401

The idea that they were swapped is a bit far fetched, I did hear another theory though about JP Morgan who was meant to be on the ship but backed out at the last minute. 3 of his rivals died on the ship and not long after the Federal Reserve Act was pushed through. Again very far fetched but also extremely beneficial for one group of people, which is a concurrent theme with tragedies.

It’s incorrect. He did not back out at the last minute. He never intended to travel. He was in Paris organising artworks to be sent out of the country because Paris was trying to stop the countries artworks from leaving the country.

I hate that conspiracy for many reasons, especially for this reason my own reason. That reason being that to the people who died that night, to the people who survived that night, and to the people who lost someone that night... that ship was the Titanic. And if you ask me, that's what matters. And it's also just a stupid "theory." Not everything has to be/ is a conspiracy.

I hate conspiracy theories that are easily debunked, yet they stay around forever. I mean simply put, don’t you think if there was insurance fraud perpetrated, the insurance company would immediately have asked for Olympic to be put into dry dock for inspection, and then interrogated all of the dock workers who worked during the time the two ships were in dock together and offered them some cash to squeal on their bosses? Look at the loss of life! If I was party to a fraud, and saw that so many people died, I’m pretty sure I couldn’t have that on my conscience and would have spoken out.

I’m going to Belfast in a few weeks, would you recommend the titanic museum as I wasn’t sure if I would go. Thank you

Congratulations, every single thing you wrote is wrong. Documented you say ? Where ? Tik Tok ? Where exactly in the archives and contemporary reports might we find these informations ? Olympic collided with HMS Hawke in September 1911, Titanic’s maiden voyage was in April 1912, that is certainly not 3 months… Olympic resumed her transatlantic crossings in November 1911, when Titanic was months away from completion. Olympic never received Titanic’s propeller blade, each sister ship had her own spares blades. The only thing Olympic received from Titanic was a propeller shaft. As for the portholes, both ships were launched with 14 portholes and had 2 added later on. The footage with the MP letters is badly edited CGI. The letter size and spacing is all wrong, and no expedition team has ever claimed it. The White Star Line was also not in trouble at all, the company was extremely successful. And both ships were underinsured. Titanic cost 7.5 million dollars (1.5 million pounds) to build, not 10 million… She was insured for 5 million dollars (1 million pounds). No one at the inquiries referred to Titanic as “Olympic”, where on earth did you get that rubbish ? The inquiries are entirely available to read online, clearly you have not read a line from either of them… Morgan did not cancel, he simply did not show up, as always. He was always invited on White Star maiden voyages and never attended. He wasn’t there for Olympic’s maiden voyage either, perhaps you will tell us what other evil plan he had in mind for that particular crossing ? Also the Titanic has a shorter balcony than Olympic since the Olympics balcony goes all the way round from the bow to the poop deck so another obvious reason they weren't swapped round
