    You should read the memoirs of Scott Bowers called "Full Service: My Adventures in Hollywood and the Secret Sex Live of the Stars." He gives first-hand account of Hollywood sex parties with Grant and Scott. Gore Vidal said the contents of Bowers book was the gospel truth. End of! BTW, Jimmy Stewart and Henry Fonda shared a house at the same time. No talk of gay sex was attributed to them because the house had a revolving door of young lovelies coming in and out. Those friggin' guys screwed so many women, I doubt they had time to bop one another!

    If I'm not mistaken Tyrone Power and Glen Ford also shared a "batchelor pad" at one time which it was said to also have a revolving door of ladies in and out. However I have recently read the book "The Fixers" about MGM's publicity department , and in there they infer that Tyrone was bisexual so who knows.

    One of the more interesting - but far less investigated - aspect of Scott was that he was such a canny businessman. He was a very shrewd investor in real estate in California. I look at those photos of Grant and Scott cooking dinners in Bachelor Hall and think to myself: "Yup. Grant had to eat at home because he was spending too much money elsewhere. Scott was saving money to buy Rodeo Drive." LOL

    Yes, they were lovers... so what. My understanding is that each was the only one the other ever really loved. If so, how horrible that they had to live such closeted lives. Such things age you and damage your psyche in ways that no one can fully understand. They weren't the only ones, of course, but it's just so sad to know that they couldn't be together for a lifetime... especially knowing just how deeply in love they were with each other.

    This focusing on the sex lives of dead Hollywood icons needs to be given a rest. Scott and Grant may have been bi, or maybe just two mates who enormously enjoyed each other's company...we'll never know. Can't two men love each other in a brotherly sense without it being sexual? Sad that these videos emphasize the prurient instead of the awesome contributions to film made by those two great actors.

    Isn't it a shame big studio moguls dictated the personal lives of the movie stars during the thirties and forties? Can't people live their lives in such a way so they are happy?

  • @ladywisewolf3942

    @ladywisewolf3942

    Жыл бұрын

    Well, to be fair, it wasn't just the studio moguls, society at that time REALLY frowned on homosexuality and underground gay clubs were routinely raided by the police with all the patrons going to jail for "public degeneracy". The studio moguls were only interested in the bottom line ( in spite of their public pious stance on moral issues). So they reflected what the public wanted and what was acceptable in society. To deviate from that in those days would have meant financial ruin so the moguls were very busy crafting stars personas ( true or not) and also very busy covering up any of their star's indiscresions .

    It doesn't really matter if they were, or not. Only those that are jealous about two men that women adored and became such popular male leading men would be disgusted with such a relationship. John Wayne once had a man working on his movie set fired because Wayne found out the guy was gay. The mere thought that they could become loved by a female audience was beyond their understanding. Truth is, Grant and Scott had far more than Great handsome looks. They had real talent. Things that Wayne never possessed. He was truly a "Johnny One Note" ! All he ever really did was change costumes from one picture to another. Did Wayne have a following? Sure! By all the same guys just like him. Bigots and racists ! There was a class about Scott, even as a cowboy, that Wayne lacked. Grant had Class his whole life ! If they were lovers, congratulations to the both of them. They certainly had great taste ! Those that knew of their relationship never bothered to exploit it, or try to destroy these two men. I only wish that they could have been open about their love for one another, but it was a different time. Unfortunately, there are people afoot even today that two men in a relationship really angers and disgusts them. These holier-than-thou Evangelicals and Republicans will do anything to overturn any and all progress that has been made for gay people. Scott and Grant certainly made a handsome couple by anyone's standards. I'm happy they had the time they had together.
