Wentworth Woodhouse Restoration: Exclusive Behind the Scenes Tour
Wentworth Woodhouse is the largest country home in Britain, and features the largest fasade of any country house in Europe. If you have seen my previous video 'Wentworth Woodhouse Documentary: Inside the UK's biggest country house' then you will appreciate why Wentworth is such a spectacular English County House.
Once as revered as Chatsworth House, when the Wentworth Woodhouse Preservation Trust acquired the property in 2017, Wentworth Woodhouse was a shadow of its former self. Derelict and abandoned, this forgotten stately home was in dire need of urgent repairs.
Now undergoing a multi-million Pound restoration, Wentworth Woodhouse is once again getting the attention it deserves, and is on track to once again becoming one of England's most loved country houses.
I was massively privileged to have been invited by the Wentworth Woodhouse Preservation Trust to attend the mansion and receive an exclusive behind the scenes tour. Feeling very much like an urban explorer, what I found was a house of many contrasts, as whilst much excellent restoration work has been done, there is still a long way to go in restoring this colossal English country home.
Join me on an exclusive behind the scenes tour at Wentworth Woodhouse, as we explore derelict areas of the house previously unseen by the public. From grand state rooms and halls, to delapidated and abandoned bedrooms and corridors, join me on an an exclusive behind the scenes of one of Europe's grandest country homes.
I want to say a massive thank you to the Wentworth Woodhouse Preservation Trust for inviting me to the house and allowing me to film. They have an exciting new KZread channel which you can check out here:

That marble statue in the stair well is a marble from Pompeii it’s worth is phenomenal !
My family has lived in Wentworth for hundreds of years. I was so lucky to have a tour a couple of years ago. An amazing house.

I had the pleasure of visiting wentworth a few years ago, and I heard about it after reading Black Diamonds , which is one of my favourite books to read. The history of the house, and family is really good. I look forward to visiting it again very soon. Must say I was very impressed with the house on my first visit , not expecting it to look as good as it did. Thank you for the chance to see it once again.

Great book also inspired me to visit. The lost rooms about Belvoir Castle by the same author is also good.
It's so wonderful that this is being brought back to life! Too many were taken down.

Thank you for showing some parts of the house we don't normally get to see. We've been so fortunate to have done several tours and had dinners in the marble saloon including their Regency Ball 😍. I've just purchased 2 of the old balusters which were replaced during the roof renovations, so now have my very own part of WW 😍. Absolutely love this place.

Hi Deborah. Thank you so much for your comment and kind words. Isn’t it just the most incredible house!? I love how every time you visit there is something new to see. Being able to see the house being brought back to life is really quite special. I am very envious of your dinners in the stunning Marble Saloon!
What a beautiful home. The name is reminiscent of Jane Austen's major characters Captain Wentworth and Emma Woodhouse. Wonder if it was an inspiration to Jane.

It's entirely possible! It is an incredible home 😍
Thanks for this behind the scenes look. As WW is only about a 15 minute drive away I visit regularly so it's great to see the gradual improvements taking place at this wonderful historic house and gardens. The next big project is the refurbishment of the Camelia house. Can't wait!!!

Although it was never in such a grim condition as Wentworth Woodhouse, Stowe in Buckinghamshire has also been undergoing restoration in the last several years, including accurately refurnishing the Palladian interiors, from wihch almost every piece of furniture or sculpture was removed in 1921.. I would love to see you report on the committee's progress.

Simply wonderful. I was most lucky to have visited in 2017 Long before scaffolding, one one of their exceedingly rare days of guided tours. What a treat and lasting impression it had on me. It has lead me to do much more research and also delve into the family history. A very fascinating topic. Many thanks indeed for sharing your very exclusive glimpse into not-seen-before spaces. Cheers

Helena de Chair family ancestrial home, she is the wife of Jacob rees mogg
can this be transformed into a hotel? Do the rooms have bathrooms ?
Quite ironic that he mentions Stephen King. I live in Maine, Stephen King’s home state. I’m also a descendant of the Wentworth family, whose home is shown here.
Do you have any Idea how the Wentworth family lived in the XVI century?
So when will the restoration finish?
@Xploreheritage
2 жыл бұрын
They are hoping to have most things completed by around 2044.
@Xploreheritage
2 жыл бұрын
@Eduardo Morales No, actual 2044. The main house will be finished way before that, but in terms of the the entire estate, it is really going to take a couple of decades. But, perhaps if you make a massive donation it could be sooner!
How can somebody began with repairs on stucco and above that leaking roof ?!
Are they going to steamclean the outside? Those stones are, of course, filthy.
@Xploreheritage
2 жыл бұрын
I think they have already done some work removing soot from the exterior. But I’m not sure to be honest. If I find out I’ll let you know!
Jacob Reess Mogg is marred to a woman who is linked to this house.thats why the house got government funding for the restoration. Its a worthy cause ,but very naughty.
