Fun fact! The Welrod's name is of two parts, Wel, from how the area it was made, was near Welwyn Garden City, and Rod, to make it seem like it wasnt actually a pistol. The Welrod , when fired, was only about 73 decibels. T compare, a normal gun, when fired, is around 140 db. Also, the Welrod was only about as loud as a modern car.

Ah, the Welrod: A silenced, bolt action pistol that's basically a peashooter pipe gun with it's mag as the grip for...some reason.

To be fair the whole design was built around minimising noise, every part of the design is there for that reason alone. I don't think many games do this weapon justice. It was truly quieter than any modern suppression system used in militaries today, though it had hard limitations. (Modern suppressors approx 130-150decibels, Welrod 73decibels) They only get around one or two dozen shots before the quietness would degrade to that of a modern barrel attached suppressor and eventually as loud as a regular gun. Because the system was built into the gun, it was impossible to repair the suppression system and get the gun back to its original quietness. They were issued exclusively for special operations missions, because in SOE missions soldiers would be infiltrating/assassinating with minimum necessary shots taken. the high cost and short lifespan of the Welrod design made it fall out of favour over time. Nowadays they value the interchangeable, replaceable and cheapness of the barrel attached suppressor, even though they are immensely louder. Every 10db, perceived volume doubles, because decibels are logarithmic. This means that a 130db suppressor is producing an acoustic pressure wave a million times more intense than a 70db Welrod.

@@bigbitehood1353 How that that look fine to you? You can't lock the bolt unless it's in battery, but in that animation the character somehow locks the bolt before closing the bolt. Firstly, you shouldn't be able to turn the bolt when out of batter. Secondly, if you can move the bolt after it has been locked, then I'd recomment against shooting the gun as it would open from the blowback and explode in your face. edit: in the case of day of infamy the animation is correct, but the whole thing (including the gun) has been mirrored. Still pretty cursed, but atleast functionally correct.

Looks like a twist/pull back and then a twist/push forward back into position. Sorry I'm not an expert, i just figured if anything people would comment on Day of Infamy's being backwards

The correct would be: twist> pull back> push back> twist back The twisting itself locks it, imagine it like a door with a lock, first you turn the key, then you open the door, then close the door back and turn the key the other way. If you turn the key while the door is open it will prevent the door from actually closing properly (in the case of a gun you wouldn’t be able to do this in the first place.)

The sniper elite ones sounds terrible, well so does enemy front but man their Foley artists had some pots and pans to work with. Literally

Love how sandstorm even with AP rounds it takes 2 or 3 shots even with over 400 pen power

Those one shot guns were called the welwand. You literally had screw the breachblock off to load it, and was designed to be hidden inside the arms of a coat (it didn't even have a grip, you had to hold it like the handle of a suitcase). When in use the operator slid it into their palm, shot the target from upclose, then slid the gun back into cover and blend in with the scared crowd. Afaik it was never used in live operations.

@@nicoliedolpot7213 this. the welroad together whit a few other purposeful designed guns was designed to be so quite that it was manually cambered because the sound of the spend casing flying out and landing was louder then the gun itself (not really but that was starting to become a real thing whit them). Sad we didn´t get to see Medal of Honor Rising Sun Welrod. it was dipicted as a single shot whit the reloading thing coming further out to insert the next bullet. used in one level and it was slow as heck

No. Suppressors don’t really heat up due to the gas (that causes the heating) dissipating rapidly into the suppressing material. So in essence, it just means theres more room for the heat to occupy.

Finally. My favorite gun My cauntry can be use for hitman only

I don't know about the other games, but in Insurgency Sandstorm, it's a meme how bad it is, because in that game, the caliber matters. 32 ACP is... weak. So weak, that it is the only weapon in the game with Armor Piercing rounds Luckily every weapon has enough damage to make the gunplay feel like it's an insanely realistic R6S with one shot headshots, no matter the gun.
