@@richardhollander323 depends on your idea of a sea shantie; if you consider songs relating to the sea, sea shanties then sure. But the usual piraty shanties serve the purpose of rendering the hard work being done by the crew easier with the tempo and everything. The difference is this song is more about merchant ships, like Caesar above said, and is sung to pass the time, so to speak, by regular people.
