Garen is a champ with a built in debuff. The moment its picked it reduces the enemies team iq by 60% and they forget basic game mechanics.

I love the display of the combo order, really helps me understand how garen works

A champion as dumbed down as garen shouldnt be sitting at near 50% winrate at anything but low elo. Yet he's consistently been S tier and 50% winrate the past like 4 patches at em+. Its not the players, its the champion.

Garen's ult has no stats that scale with items, it's just raw base damage that increases the lower the target is and Adam is nuking his opponents from like 35% HP, it's crazy!

The only bonus damage is from coup/last stand and conq if you take them, not that it needs any it's the outplay button.

He still has no cc for teamfight and no hard engage. All he can do is run to people which is not working vs koreans or chinese who just cc him.

Garen actually is a good match vs Ksante, as he can tank a lot of the lane bully being the bully itself and when Ksante ults, he just Smile because he just got a R garenteed

Its nice to see more than just the same two champs in each role during pro play, especially when the player makes them work.

The reason Garen works is because an ulting K'Sante loses over half of his health and because K'Sante is at the top of the meta, his hardest counter will automatically be viable. It's exclusively being used as a K'Sante counter. #dontnerfksante #keepgarenalive

​@lindus9201 That was more of a player counter pick than a champion counter pick, I think. They knew licorice trades heavily early and Garen can hold against it enough on lv.1 to allow for the lv.2 gank to work which basically ended the lane right then

You can increase Garen's ult damage directly, but would have to sacrifice so much to do so. Press the Attack or First Strike are the easiest methods, and for items Horizon Focus or Riftmaker also work. This is only simply because all four offer Damage Amplification without damage type limitations, so true damage is also affected.

I think a weakness with pro play is when they disregard the solo que meta too much because they have staple safe picks. Remember when SKT fought a support MF and lost against it & they had to ban it right after? Pro picks are well tested but sometimes a "troll" pick champion is good into the entire enemy team.
