Well-Involved Garage Fire: LAFD Station 57

Los Angeles Fire Department Battalion 13 companies were dispatched to a structure fire in 57’s first-in on the 1700 block is W. 81st St. at 2351 hours.
Units assigned: Battalion 13, Task Force 66, Light Force 33, Engine 57, Rescue 66, Rescue 266, & Rescue 857.
TF66 was first on scene of a 1 story single family dwelling w/ a well-involved detached garage. E66 was fire attack, T66 was roof division, RA66 was medical division, LF33 & E57 checked exposures, RA266 assisted with exterior work, BC13 was 81st Street IC.
Knockdown was called at 0003 hours. No injuries, unknown cause.
Location: Manchester Square / South Central, Los Angeles, CA
Date: Monday, March 28th, 2022

    Not a bad job being a big city but for the love of god, get off the damn roof when you don’t need to be. That fire was self venting and had no reason for roof ops.

    Yes, made by Cairns. These have a built-in eye shield and are synthetic, not leather. I've seen salad bowl helmets with the eye shield, so I would have thought Phenix could install them in their First Due helmet for extra protection.

    Only in LA would someone run to the fire with a ladder and get on a roof that is vented not to mention the integrity is defiantly compromised. This is the most ridicules thing I have seen. I will do it the old-fashioned way and pull a line.

    Not to start any kind of problems but the home owner needs to get out of the way. Cause is he would of gotten hurt while getting in the way of the firefighters working then that would of been his own fault. Let them do their job get the heck out the way.......

    Well I mean I understand what he was doing there were some small embers on the hood of that car that they weren’t putting out, which if left unnoticed would have just caused another large fire with the car.

    The homeowner had to put the car fire out himself ! The firemen were standing right beside it for 5 minutes & put no water on it ! 🤦🏻‍♂️
