Welding On The Go - Portable TIG Welding Setup For Pipe and Tubing Jobs

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

This Is how I set up my 3 portable TIG welders to be mobile and roll throughout food processing plants, breweries, dairies, pharmaceutical plants and so on. I primarily use Miller Maxstars on custom harper hand trucks and victor flowmeters. (linked below)
I hope you find it interesting and let me know how you set up as well.

I’m a welder from the Uk. Mainly do process pipe work like yourself. Never seen that power block configuration in my life. Over here we run gas through the machine and use the HF. A lot of guys pulse dairy pipe too.

How often do you use a weld positioner? Do you ever use a roll out wheel on the job?

I am told the Maxstar 161 S does not TIG . I am currently running an STL that is loaned to me. I always run it in the 6010 mode since I like the OCVs there better. I'd like to pick one up, I'm wondering why the S model can TIG as a scratch start rig since that is essentially how I run the STL?

Yes i believe you can scratch start TIG with the S. Personally i wouldn’t want to be without lift arc for what i do.

Are you getting power off a generator out in the field? Are these capable off of 110 if needed in a pinch?

Almost always use the 110 power at the plant. Unless there’s a crappy breaker or gfci.. the 110 wall outlets work fine up to around 110-120 amps
