Looks quite a nice machine i have all pulsed 3 phase ewm in my shop and single phase pulsed mig for site . We do alot of marine work on crab boats. My aprentice showed a pic of a up hill weld i dit to his collage teacher (ex off shore welder) who comented tig welding isnt suposed to black so fooled him Keep at it you will get your own buisness running soon enuf just do it a bit at a time

Im basicly a new welder. welding for 8months . mostly im welding pipes with TIG and sometimes other stuff with MIG. But i never saw ayone welding pipes with a MIG welder. Can u explain why u welding it that way? Are your pipes xray proof?

vent to atmosphere yes. the pressure of gas is so low it's basically a fart. and you're supposed to calculate the volume of gas in the pipe and purge with nitrogen.

Depends on the volume mate. Nitrogen isn’t always necessary. They probably sectioned off short a line and therefore were able to do it this way. Depending on where the purge points are they probably turned from air to gas in a similar way, but potentially had to use additional equipment who knows

How long have you had the swiss air unit and how do you find it compared to the speedglas ad flow?

I used to do pipefitting, i dont think mig welding gas pipe is to code, any gas pipe would require class 1 coding its a shame the industry has lost its ways, theres probably no difference nowadays with the machine your using but if a inspector comes then youd more then likely be told to redo in tig or stick

I always thought having a machine that was 3 phase was way better due to more consistant voltage and less to no volt drop?
