Jason, can you ever get the shiny color of copper back into your piece if you were, for example, making rings as jewelry?

I used this technique for make copper chains using a kitchen stove without lid (it looks like the flame of a bunsen burner) and worked excelent! Something that I don't use is the technique shown in 3:00, I cut the chain links and close them with the flat ends touching very well and solders nicely

Maybe I'm missing something, but how are you soldering the copper ring without solder? 😮

If copper bonds so quickly, I wonder why plumbers need to use solder to join copper tubes?

Id assume because pipes are under pressure and the bond is weaker without solder, which could result in leaks.

I found your video very informative. Thank you. I would like to know will this method work with sterling silver?

Should work faster as silver has a lower melting temp.

would this work with LP gas?

Hmmm, I subscribed cause you're interesting. I guess I'm going to have to solder if I want a circle.

You can weld the two ends together, build a directional furnace

Hey! Would a Butane torch do the same job or does it need to be propane? I’m considering getting a welding machine but if I can seal my ring shanks with my torch that would be sweet. Thanks

Just my experience : with copper, you’ll find you need hotter than butane. Propane or Map-Pro and as to the torch head : pick the one he says. TS8000. The TS4000 doesn’t pump enough gas. You might have success with two butane torches simultaneously heating your piece but that would be a question of luck, with smaller pieces only. I love that he gives the torch information ! Most videos overlook that key element for copper and brass.

Thanks so much for your advice, I’ll go for propane just to be on the safe side 👌 have a great day 🙌

I use butane with no issues, design and build a furnace, and boom, you don't need a propane, physics helps alot.
