One great thing about being in control of the mouse, you can click past the commercials....got to admit, Michelle sneaked that one past me, the more I watched, the more I liked it. Michelle you have proven that you can produce, edit and now direct. You done an awesome job! It was actually pleasant to watch, not cringeworthy, it was funny at times and there was something in it for everybody. Most of all, there was nothing phony plastic..., it was also down-to-earth and honest. Brother Paul, I'd go off road with you any day. I like the fact that you never seem to get excited when things go south. You work through everything, know your equipment and if there's a best solution for every situation, you'll definitely find it! Keep up the great videos and content, you guys rock!

I wish my Dad was still alive just to watch you, Paul. He was a pipe-fitter by trade and when he wanted a "second set of gears" in his truck, he found himself an old school lathe and huge block of metal and fabricated himself a second set of gears. This way he had a possible 12 gears for his truck when he was pulling trailers. He would have gotten a big kick from watching you since you are pretty much a kindred spirit. I get so much joy by watching you since it brings back memories of my Dad building ALL sorts of things out of nothing but "junk". I was talking to the salesperson about how thin and cheap looking the newer ones (in that price range) looked. They said over the past 15+ years most people wanted the biggest one they could get that weighed the least it could so their vehicle would tow it for the cheapest price they could find. Might want to consider a conversion to propane for the motor on the welder. Most are super simple to change over for higher altitude, needing nothing more than a different orifice and a screwdriver or allen wrench to change it out. Takes a couple minutes. You also have the benefit of having a bottle of propane with you for other uses. You can run an acetylene torch on propane. Doesn't get as hot, but it will still turn steel into slag.

My guess with the portable welder machine is most likely carburetor. The rotten gasoline these days goes bad so fast when sitting around it really gums up carburetors. The construction company I mechanic for I’m constantly fixing carbs on the small engine powered tools. I have been trying to train the guys to shut the fuel off and run the carbs out of fuel when finished using to prevent so many carb problems. I’m slowly getting the guys trained about it. Starting to get fewer carb problems when the fuel has been run out of the carbs. Nice job in that 5th wheel hitch welding 👍always interesting your videos

Often offroad towed campers break at the beam connection where it goes down to the floor level. Hopefully he has that stripped back and checked for more cracks. The campers need to be light so people can tow them with their smaller trucks and when they are lighter it means they design the lightest metal to do the job. Older camper probably has a few more cracks if he has been going offroad with it.

I'm looking at those fractures and it appears they may be stress fractures from braking/pulling on steep inclines. When you hit the brakes going down a grade, the trailer is pushing against that fifth wheel. If the Trailer Brakes are weak, not adjusted, or timed improperly, it may be putting too much stress and causing these fractures.

I’ve got a Ranger 9 that I bought new about 25 years ago, possibly more. As it got older, I had similar problems with it and looked for a fix. It’s not in constant use, which is not a good thing for gasoline powered equipment, and the main carburetor jet would clog or get restricted after sitting for a couple months. There’s a plug on the side of the carb that, when removed, provides direct access to the orifice. A set of long tip cleaners will quickly open it up, just don’t get carried away with the size! The ultimate fix was installing a fuel shut off valve in the fuel line before the carb, and running it dry after each use when you’re not sure when the next job will be! Keep trying to restart it with the choke until it won’t even threaten to fire! These things also have a low oil protection system that won’t let them run if the oil is low. You probably already know all this, but just in case!! Stay well!

I was growing up in flagstaff while they were building Glenn Canyon Dam and every load went right in front of our house, From Flag to the turn off to Tuba City good road. past there they just could not create a solid bottom I know that on some stretchs they tried floating concrete to make a road bed nothing worked. For the big heavy loads they had a fleet of trucks that carried big plates of steel to put over culverts and the worst areas. Some of the loads were so heavy they had to build a crossing down in the bottom of the Little Colorado Canyon and they always kept at least one crawler to help get the trucks back out. A guy I ran around with, His dad was the big dog on all the concrete mixing and pouring. If memory serves me correct there are 3-4 guys in the dam. If you fall in nothing can be done in time to save you. Again if memory is right there are twenty something guys in the Hoover Dam at Lake Mead. The only way they can fix that one bad streach of road is they would have to sink pillars some 30 feet into the sand and pour a big base and back fill with rock and concrete bridge it and the engineers weren't even sure that would work.

I saw an RV trailer that was blown over as it was being towed through a mountain pass... It ended up on its side for the most part, but there wasn't much left of it... Pretty thin material it appeared to be made out of... Supposedly, that is one of the reason that some people prefer to covert the school buses to RV instead of buying a normal RV since school buses are required to be able to roll over and still maintain their structural integrity...
