I'm a sophomore this year. Here's what Welcome Week was like for me last year: Friday: - Honors Move-In - Honors Picnic: free food and a bunch of outdoor activities, it was in the short-term lot near the Student Recreation Center but I can't remember if there was something similar downtown Saturday - General Move-In - Honors Retreat: Honors students go to the Mountainlair, get free breakfast, and are welcomed to WVU and the honors program by Honors College faculty; after the general info we are split into groups based on our HONR 298O classes and go outside to the green/plaza to meet our classmates and mentors - Welcome Picnic: not-free food (you have to use a dining plan swipe to eat), a bunch of indoor and outdoor activities in/around Student Recreation Center, unsure if there is something similar downtown Sunday: - Navigate WVU: welcome presentation by student life going over campus safety/rules/etc, pretty boring and not too much stuff we didn't already know, my RAs took us on a campus tour after this session as I believe many other floors/dorms did - Student Org Fair: pretty self-explanatory, I didn't go to this and really regret it - MovieFest: free movie at the Coliseum Monday: - Adventure/Service Activity: doing something with Adventure WV or helping out with a service project, I did a service activity called Harvest Time at the WVU Organic Farm where I dug potatoes for 3 hours while getting to know another student, hands-down one of the best ways I've ever gotten to know someone - Monday Night Lights: a bunch of activities on Mountaineer Field, some awesome speakers (President Gee; Provost Reed; the Mountaineer; the football, mens basketball, and womens soccer coaches), the band does their pregame show then makes the state and new students fill the state in for a picture, we sing Country Roads, then out of the stadium to get free pizza and a Welcome Week T-shirt Note: The Sunday and Monday schedules are for students living in Evansdale dorms. If I had lived in a downtown or Sunnyside dorm, Navigate WVU and my Adventure/Service Activity would have traded places. Tuesday: - Academic session with your college - FoodFest: free food from food trucks, the website said you get two meal credits but I only got one credit for whatever reason - FallFest: huge music festival Note: When you are at FoodFest and FallFest, be prepared to deal with people who are drunk and/or high Wednesday: classes start

I'm going to be a sophomore next year and the orientation to your major was a bit different. You usually get a scheduled time for your exact major and not your whole college and it's fairly short maybe an hour and no food haha. Just mostly talking and we did a scavenger hunt for important places for my major.

I'm a sophomore this year, and my academic session was just a presentation by my advisor. Granted, I'm in Statler College where there is a completely separate advising center for freshmen. No food, no scavenger hunt, just going into a lecture hall, watching a presentation, and leaving the lecture hall.
